I used to watch boxing all the time then switched to MMA. I got sick and tired of the referees constantly interfeering with the fight. What I really dont get is why cant you clinch in boxing. It seems like second the two boxers clinch the referee steps in and separates them. Why cant the guys just fight out of it? Why do boxing commentators freak out and call it dirty. Its the same thing when I go to boxing gyms and spar with them. The moment they get close I clinch and strike. The boxing trainers then yell at me and tell me its dirty and that "this is boxing". Wouldnt boxing be much better if you had to fight your way out of the clinch every time?

It's rule #2 under the MoQ rules: no wrestling or hugging is allowed.

Boxing is fist and foremost a spectator sport. Its not about being a macho badass "no rules" dude like MMA is. Imagine for one second if clinching was aloud in boxing. You would see 12 rounds of hugging and rabbit punching, gayer than GSP's last fight. You would not see as much quality knock outs or technique. You would see jab-clinch-rabbit punch-muscle your opponent around-reach around arm punch and so on and so on. Don't go into boxing gyms to practice clinching and MMA. Go to a thai boxing gym or an MMA gym to do that shit.

I'm sure he's trolling but it's never a bad time to post KO highlights.

    Amen!....and absolutely correct.
Many referees separate boxers the second they even touch each other and sometimes move them to the center of the ring. It negates advantages of positioning and infighting.
Its one thing I hate about some referees.

Katsidis Marquez fight was a good example of tight work with minimal, if any clinching. The ref had bugger all to do with that one. Except for the timely stoppage...
