Why Don't Woodpeckers Get CTE?

I knew a girl where it was also kind of amazing she wasn't suffering brain damage throwing her head back and forth like that. Thinking back we could have called her the woodnecker

Their skulls are designed in a special way... can't remember specifics, I believe their tongues wrap around their skulls to help. They also have a special eyelid that covers their eyes when pecking.

Cool stuff

And they look so adorably retarded banging their beaks on trees.

They don't get CTE due to biological differences between wood peckers and humans.

You ever hear woody woodpecker’s retarded laugh? Pretty sure that motherfucker has CTE.

their beak is very large relative to the size of their head/rest of the skull and is elastic. the beak itself absorbs some of the shock.

the hyoid bone supports the tongue in many mammals. in wood peckers however, it also uniquely wraps around the entire skull. mechanically, this bone aids woodpeckers in evenly distributing impulses experienced while pecking.
woodpeckers also have a spongy section of their foreskull that presumably also dampens/distributes impulses.
perhaps counterintuitive to some, but woodpeckers have less cerebrospinal fluid around their brain than other birds. this fluid acts as a shock absorber for low level impulses. however, for stronger impacts, cerebrospinal fluid actually facilitates the transmission of force into the brain.

i can tell its an aspen tree because of the way it is

maybe they can build a better football helmet if they studied this

Facts! I think studying nature is the absolute best way to get ideas for inventions. In fact, scientists, engineers, inventors, etc. Often times look to nature.

Hell, velcro was invented because the inventor kept noticing burdock seeds on his dog.

Nature has perfected things due to millions of years of evolution or God... doesn't matter.
