It might have not been intentional, but if the UFC has refs start taking points for any and all eye pokes, intentional or not, then there will be a lot less of them.

Oh, I agree. I'm just seeing a lot of people shit on Faber about doing this intentionally, when I think opinions would be different if the predominant gif being floated around weren't the slowmo one.
