Why wouldn't you elbow the neck when you are side control? The carotid, jugular vein, SCM muscle and nerves are all available to get damaged.

What about the side of the neck?Because it's illegal. No strikes to the throat or spine.
I'm no scholor of the rules and honestly I'm not sure the answer but I feel like the range concidered the spine, and the range concidered the throat would leave a space along the side of the neck smaller than a fist so it would be impossible for it not to be illegal...but that's just my take on it.What about the side of the neck?
