He didn't do any GnP for the first two rounds, while he was in very advantageous positions and it was obvious he could've mauled Al. Then for the next two he attempted 0 takedowns, fucking 0, and easily outstruck a very good striker and boxer. The only round he really had trouble in was the 5th, proving that he doesn't have perfect cardio, but if he had mauled Al for the previous 4 he would've easily finished him before even reaching the 5th.

He literally was playing around doing random shit to entertain the fans. Going for subs early which isn't his style, striking for two rounds, attempting no takedowns 3 minutes into the 5th.

The fight was a joke for him.

Once again for, you and other asslickers.

Khabib has the best top control in the entire UFC history. But when he can't get the takedown, he is just an average slow striker with a HORRIBLE striking defense. Chin up when going in and going backwards, zero head movement.

It's not that he was coasting or chilling, he just COULD NOT get the takedowns so he didn't look as good as before. Simple as that.

I actually am not a Khabib fan, but I recognize how good he is.

As for him not getting the TD, he got one 1 minute into the first round FFS, in his first attempt. He got multiple in the second as well. He didn't attempt one in the 3rd and 4th. Not one attempt. How do you explain that difference? He simply didn't want to and wanted to strike. Pretty obvious stuff tbh.

If Khabib could he would end every fight in the first minute of the first round by sub or KO.

agreed. i cant understand why khabib made himself look bad. interdasting.

He knew Al has been submitted 3 times and tried to go for a sub.

He knew that Al (who is tough) did not present any danger.

I think he was conserving energy in the 3rd and 4th rounds. He knew he had one and two in the bag and he could easily take another to get the decision.

In his mind he was trying to refute the people who said he has bad striking, at least that's my interpretation. He always seems butthurt about him not being a complete mixed martial artist in interviews.

And in a way he did show it since he outstruck him for two rounds pretty easily.

Stevie Wonder could’ve seen that he wasn’t committed to those take downs after round 2. He went for like 1 takedown per round in the later rounds? What elite grappler does that, unless they want to stand?

I think he was toying with him and trying to conserve energy. He hasn't really shown to gas in the past and this was his first 5 round fight. Also, I'm sure he was trying to prove a point to Al since he was constantly dealing with his trash talking.

I think it was the first round where he had Al's back and had both leg hooks in, then he purposely released it for whatever reason to transition to a different position. I think he was worried about finishing the fight too quickly and having fans be upset.

That's what I was thinking. He was just trying to entertain the fans.

Now he got the belt, hopefully he stop with the toying nonsense and unleash his full form.

I'm having a hard time understanding how it's possible that people don't see how wide open for the KO he is and that he'll likely get KO'd by some of the other guys in the division. *shrugs* Guess we all get to be baffled.

Because "messing around" is a game to save face, it's not effective fighting.

Khabib tried to finish early. He couldn't.
