Why don't hardcore fans appreciate "bad" cards as a chance to see future contenders?

I understand that every fan wants every card to be stacked, but instead of being bitter shouldn't we be looking at it as an opportunity to see what future contenders there could be? As a Fight Pass member I don't mind watching the card tomorrow. I will be watching w/ baited breath to study guys who could be establishing themselves in their respective divisions so that when some of them become bigger names I will know what their capabilities are.

I understand that armchair fans will have little to no interest in the card tomorrow. I can respect that. However, true diehard fans have every reason to tune in and look for the future of MMA to show up.

When Chris Weidman beat Alessio Sakara, I posted how Chris looked good and could challenge Anderson for the MW title. As usual I was bashed to hell, but I was confident that Chris was a legit fighter.

I think Chris Wade will make splashes at LW.

i can see future contenders at the wash. pa fairgrounds or brookfield ohio, without paying the ppv cost

Alot of the time bad cards aren't full of "future contenders". They are full of Shayna Baszlers...

I don't care out about bad cards as long as they are fight night cards.

Because you have to pay before you watch, so there has to be a guaranteed incentive like hype. The up and coming guys could very well amount to nothing, there's no guarantee there. That excitement that hits you just before a fight starts is just about the only thing you can guarantee in MMA.

Personally, I don't really care so much about the quality of cards these days. The constant stream of UFC events and the quality of said cards has me forgetting they're even happening until I log on here or until the day of the event. I have more of a "If you're giving it, I suppose I'll take it" mentality now, so long as I'm not paying for anything.

I do. And you don't see me post complaints about cards ever.

Just those who whine are always louder somehow.

You mean future Bellator contenders, right?

That's what minor promotions are for. Besides.....assuming its a PPV, we actually have to PAY for it.

I think it is because of the price and comparison of other orgs.
If a Bellator card is more stacked than a UFC card, you wonder why, since the UFC has more talented fighters on their roster.

Because it's not our job to watch no-names make names. It is their job to make a name not ours. Anyways what does it matter? Do you feel special or something when you see the future rich and famous before they were rich and famous? Lol "I saw Brock Lesnar wrestle in middle school and I knew he was going to be one big mofo who couldn't take a punch... I'm famous!"

I have seen this with football where grown men watch HS football and idolize teenagers. Their lives must be pretty mediocre if that is how they get satisfaction and happiness. An 80 old dude is fine because he old and can't move well but younger men who do this are pathetic.

Because if I'm paying for that shit I want some fighters I'm familiar with and get me fired up to watch. I buy for the main card usually and not the prelims. I'll admit though most fighters I'm familiar with fight on the main card except for the odd one I notice when I'm watching the prelims. Thats not to say I don't appreciate the fights undercard fighters put on, I just wouldn't shell out ~$60 to see it.

Exactly this. It's really not that hard to spot future contenders since they are usually wrecking guys in the lower echelon
