Why don’t they remake Bloodsport with Pride?

Pride occupies a fond place in many MMA fans’ hearts, with unique larger than life characters, intriguing underworld connections, all taking place in a land that many Westerners have fantasies about.

Why not remake Bloodsport (an awesome movie) with Pride as the tournament, Japan as the backdrop, and even the yakuza for some fun side stories?

If they do it, which Pride fighters would you include and who would you have as the major protagonists and antagonists?

I'm down for this remake. Even a Kickboxer remake. JCVD had some good movies and you can probably remake a bunch of the storylines from his movies.

Only if they throw in the Crazy Horse vs Chute Boxe backstage fight in its unedited full glory.

Cro Cop or GSP (not pride but still) should be Frank Dux

Frankly there is so much material I can see them remaking it as a series rather than a movie.

They should remake shitty movies instead of classics.

fedor would be this guy but in a twist ending he would win the last match

and somehow Heath Herring would have to bet his guy:

Just remake Pride. Wishful thinking sadly.

Problem is, only about 23,000 people would pay to see it and another 35,000 would stream it. Not worth the money as MMA is already very niche.

Do you mean it would star the old, wrinkly Pride stars? I'd kill to see a smoking, mummified Sakuraba, raging Coleman, plank-stiff Nogueira, and fat(ter) Fedor hamming it up in a movie. . . but if they got younger stars/celebs it would be unrecognizably lame, as opposed to intentionally hilarious.

Frank Dux would probably not be down with it unless he is the main character.

Forget about the movies. Old UFC was the kumite. Few rules, multiple fights in one night, no time limit

I'd say Josh Barnett for Jackson's character.

Other characters I'd like to see:

Aleks has a villainous look to him
    Saku, of course
    Nog
    Wand
    Cro Cop
    Frye as a trainer maybe

    This would be fun

I don’t watch television, I don’t know why I made the decision to watch that movie but it for real was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t even finish it. Just fast forwarded to the ending.

The remake was bad; the follow up* was so convoluted that it was funny bringing in Ronaldinho and Mike Tyson.
