Why doesn't Canelo score more knockouts against elite opponents?

He's obviously got a good cut on the punches and his technique is near flawless..

Is he pulling his punches for defensive purposes or is the division filled with granite chins?

Combo of factors imo. Not a devastating puncher at the higher weights, doesnt chase KOs, doesnt commit to loading up, and his opponents have some damn impressive chins (GGG, Jacobs).

There was a page which went into why.. It was GGG's trainer dismissing Canelos lack of power, but I can't seem to find it.. He mentioned something specifically Canelo does which is suboptimal for power.

It’ happens when you fight the very best! Why did Floyd stop knocking out/down his opponent after a certain level.?

Power rarely is a deciding factor at the elite level.

Canelo, while a total offensive package, is not a massive puncher either.

Same reason Jordan Hicks throws 104 and Adam Wainwright can’t crack 95. Sometimes the genetics say yes, sometimes they say no.

Wainwright is much bigger, good mechanics, the gods just said no

I was gonna ask, If you compare Canelo with other fighters around that size, how does his KO ratio stack up?

He's the same height as Shane Mosley, and even got a 1 cm reach advantage over him.. So it can't be due to size.

Jackson claims it's because Canelo doesn't sit on his punches.

Funnily enough, he considers this more like a boxers boxer.

It’s a very stupid question TS
You can literally ask the same about all the great fighters after they reach a certain level.

Because going for KOs usually leaves you more open for counters

He's also a businessman that signed the most lucrative deal in sports history; winning whilst avoiding damage is the priority for him, even if it means engaging in rather dull point-fights like the Jacobs match.

Yeah, I remember when Hatton's bro took him the distance. His workrate used to piss me off, I think he's improved.

Canelos power is above average at middleweight. But he was fighting big strong dangerous guys with good chins (GGG has never even get whobbled), So its no big deal he hasnt koed them. He has strong punches, anyone with a bit of knowledge can see that. His technique is perfect, and he has very explosive punches.
