Why does the UFC hate Chad Mendes?

I feel like the UFC isn't doing this guy any favors with the guys he's being matched up against. It wasn't that long ago that he was fighting the champ, to this day his only loss. Granted he got knocked the F out, but Mendes hasn't had a name opponent since.

Cody McKenzie's a fun character but is nowhere near Mendes' level. After Mendes handles him, he gets matched up with Hacran Dias who's got a good record but is a relative unknown to most fans. When Dias got hurt, he instead got Yaotzin Meza (who/??). Now he's going up against Gamburyan who's 1-3 in his last 4.

What is the UFC planning with this guy? He's ranked #2 in the division on a couple sites, why isn't he getting name opponents?

When he's facing someone who's not a can, he's boring. Also he's overly cocky even saying Aldo's knee was a lucky one.

hes got two KOs in less that 4 minutes and likely another coming. Dudes getting paid tens of thousands for a few minuets work

    good for him

besides FW is really crowded Edgar first then Korean Zombie after that Koch-Llamas winner & Swanson-Siver winner all have a good case for a title shot

It was my understanding that they were trying to bring him along slowly. He's fairly young, so there's no rush to throw him back to the sharks yet. Let him get some confidence in his striking and finishing ability, then put him back in there with someone who has great TDD.

I think Mendes just wants to stay active. Llamas would have been a very difficult fight.

dont sleep on manvil, he has big power and is very strong in a clinch and if chad gets into a cage stall with him, he could wind up on the ground getting pounded. its not likely, but its not out of the realm of possibility.

They gave him a title shot... they aren't hating on him that hard. After a monster loss like against Aldo they're giving him some fights to work his way back up. I bet if he wins this fight he'll get a fight against a top guy, maybe for a title shot.

Chad Mendes was ranked #3 when the featherweight division was assimilated into the UFC.

The UFC knows how good Chad is.

However, I assume the UFC, who loves Edgar, must believe there's a liklihood that Aldo/Edgar can go either way. If Edgar does win, Mendes is a top of the food chain Challenger. If Aldo wins, I assume the UFC is looking at potential new Challengers.
Aldo winning will put Chad maybe two more Aldo defenses before the rematch.
Aldo/Edgar is a huge fight in the Division.

Mendes got trounced by Aldo, but he's capable of beating the other contenders in the division. I assume they don't want him to spoil the title runs of guys like KZ and whatnot.

so they give him easy fights where he gets epic finishes and racks up bonuses and they hate him?

Lol you got to love sherdog. When someone faces tough competition it's because they hate him. When they give him easy wins they hate them too.

And so goes the way of Sherdog. "I like him", he's good no matter what. "I don't like him", he stinks and heaven help that guy no matter what. lol

Good for him to get some finishes. It may carry over when he faces top 10 competition.

    Ranked #3 by who?

WEC merged with the UFC Oct 28 2010, and Sherdog had Chad not even top 10 FW Oct 27 2010, and still not top 10 by Nov 23 2010.

I don't know where you're getting your rankings from.

Manny is a lot more of a named opponent than his last two at least.
