Why does the replacement keep his spot after the fight was canceled?

I want to see Machida fight Weidman over belfort, but if Belfort can fight why isnt he fighting for the belt now that the orginal fight got canceled?

Except Belfort can't fight sine he's not on steroids anymore according to him.

Also, he likely failed his surprise drug test so he wouldn't be able to fight in Vegas.

in that situation, there is stuff going on behind the scenes we have no idea about - its prob stuff that if revelaed, we would go fcking nuts about so best to keep to themselves

usually though, guys who step up last minute are making a sacrifice - if they lose, its not like anyone values 'excuses' or reality - we just sht on them anyway - so its a big risk for them - in return, promoter prob should give them another chance and encourage the behavior to volunteer and step up

That a pretty big assumption

Part of it is that the guy who did the right thing and stepped up should be rewarded for doing it.

Another part is chances are Belfort is not getting licensed in Nevada for a while.

The right thing? Its a title shot no one needs to be talked into figbting for a title its a gift.

If belfort earned it, he earned it, he should be the one fighting for the belt.

That is not really all that accurate. Especially since Machida, the guy in question, turned down one in the past.

And it's hard to fight for a belt if you're not licensed and probably will not be licensed any time soon.

Weidman will go to Brazil for Belfort if he wins. Machida obviously would love to fight Vitor in Brazil, I bet that crowd would be insane!

#1 the UFC needs time to market and promote the main event and that had to be done long ago

#2) tickets have been sold

#3) Vitor is not licensed in Vegas

#4) Fighters training camps

Because Vitor's licensing situation is still muddled, and they already started promoting Weidman vs Machida
