Why does Nick Diaz 'move the needle' but Nate Diaz not so much?

Nate might be more popular if Nick wasn't already around. Can you imagine a bantamweight bearded loud mouthed, Irish guy, wearing (mostly) ugly *and poorly tailored suits, who wasn't able to knock top 15 guys out that easily being popular now?

Or look at Rory MacDonald. Similar style to GSP, (not yet as good) and gets no love even though his English is infinitely better.

Nick runs his mouth way more, and nate only does stuff we've seen Nick do 10 yrs ago.

Nick is better, he forges his own way ahead. Nate is just a follower, got dragged to BJJ, got supported by his brother, followed his brother into fighting, followed his brother into the UFC, isn't as confident an asshole, followed his brother into triathalons, followed his brother into the don't give a fuck attitude, followed his brother into being a pot head.

Nate is the poor mans Nicks Diaz.

Nick is a true veteran. Plus he has more power in his punches/willingness to 'scrap' and, even if subconsciously, that plays a role in entertainment side of business

Nate is a watered down version of his big bro. He's never done anything that didn't look like it came from Nick. His demeanor, his attitude, his behavior, his style of fighting...everything....it all came from Nick.

And to Nate's credit he gives his brother endless praise and freely acknowledges that without Nick he wouldn't be shit.

Or look at Rory MacDonald. Similar style to GSP, (not yet as good) and gets no love even though his English is infinitely better.

well their personalities are also completley different

Nick Diaz seems more real while Nate seems to be trying too hard to be his brother.

Devouring?

If it went to decision you didn't devour anything.

According to Dana White, Heavyweights are scared of Nate Diaz.... maybe everyone is just scared of him?

Nick is a better fighter and a better trash talker. He also seems to be smarter than Nate.

Nick seems more genuine (being the elder of the two; Nate has clearly been influenced by Nick) and is twice the fighter.

Nick is a much cooler name than Nate. Only losers are called Nate.

I'm almost sure that Nog would have rather been crushed under a truck again at this particular moment in time than on the receiving end of that grisly beating.

yeah man if hed just be knocked out like a person is supposed to,he couldve had a nice lie down and woke up feeling alot better

Nate's best wins at LW over Miller and Cowboy are better then Nick's best wins at WW over old Penn and Daley. SF Champ doesn't mean shit when you look at who he beat.

Difference between Nick and Nate is Nick has been protected for years. He went something like 6 years without fighting a wrestler. Their ufc records (were nick hasn't just taken stylistically favorable match ups like in SF) are very comparable

IDK if Diaz vs Daley was a favorable match up considering one mistake in the standup would be the deciding factor in catching an atomic left hook or not. Very risky fight that Diaz dominated. He outboxxed Gomi high (his levels where so high when he failed that doctors said there was no way he wasn't high in the ring).

He's an extremely entertaining striker who was put up against other exciting fighters to make spectacular fights. Whats the point of putting him with a wrestler to watch him get taken down and play in guard all fight. Not much a bjj specialist can do when hes fighting a grinding wrestler with good sub defense. Would have killed his marketability.

I guess fans tend to forget MMA is sports entertainment just like pro wrestling, which hinges on creating drama and exciting fights on paper so they can draw the casuals in. Casual fans makes up most of the viewership sadly.
