A former boxing champ with one of the most devastating head kicks for a WMMA fighter yet she is so hesitant in her fights. Is it because her ground game and wrestling is weak or is it a coaching problem?

All wrong dudes... It's simple. It's because she's stupid. She could've laid Tate out but why not? Stupid... Ronda was easy, chick is scared of a fist fight. Stupid, she's a gamble, who knows when she'll show up. :(

She upsets me a lot. o_O

She's not holding back. She's a counter striker.

She doesn't want to strike aggressive and have to deal with takedowns. It's smart for her skill set.

Part counter striking and poor confidence on the ground after being submitted by Miesha.

But I agree, if she was more aggressive and less conservative many of these woman wouldn't have a chance. Maybe it's Greg Jackson who is instructing her to close up and throw shitty low side kicks.

Fear of the takedown. She's a white belt on the ground, even after all these years.

how many homes could holly holm hold if holly holm could hold homes?

thats the real question here.

She has like 55 professional fights of experience to fall back on, honestly I'd guess she knows when you chase the perfect highlight reel finish bad things usually happen. She knows to wait until the opportunity presents itself, and sometimes it doesn't.

She has to be enraged to unlock the full potential of her power.
She ends up fighting in base form usually. It's also possible that this guy
is sapping some of her power to boost his own power level.

Dont overestimate the "boxing champ". Women boxing champs are mostly a complete joke. In most cases they are worse than a man who trains boxing for 2 years serious with 1 or 2 amy fights. I met two "world champs" and their level of skill was a little bit above bar brawler. Holly has some nice technique but is very limited in her arsenal.

And I disagree with the "counter striker". That may be part of the reason but she often stays way out of reach to even counter strike. A good or even mediocre counterstriker does not run away after every punch. She has a mental block and the goat "fight without fighting" coach in her corner. She even backed of Bethe, a bum without skill, when there was no threat at all.

The fun thing is that she is now talked about again as a title contender. After loosing 3 and winning against a joke like Bethe this tells you everything you need to know about WMMA.

Holm was more aggressive and less conservative with Shevchenko and Shevchenko used that to counterstrike her way to victory over Holm. Holm doesn't have good technique as a striking aggressor. It wasn't something she did well when she was a boxer either. Her strong suit is counterstriking.

if your into that sorta thing. she looks like one of the creatures from i am legend
Kinda harsh... but with makeup on not as much... and she seems like a sweet girl - which is supposed to garner s lil bit of a break (even if not enough to smash). Plus she got ass. And wait, were you a Ronda fan?

Coaching is one, I don't think she's fully confident in her chin, and ultimately she's a counter fighter. Her wrestling isn't a problem though. She's massive for 135 and actually overpowered Ronda, so I don't think the fear of getting taken down is to blame for her hesitancy.
