King Kabuki said:The arugment about milk is somewhat agreeable, we really aren't supposed to be drinking something designed for baby cows, but it does adequately replace nutrients we idealistically should be getting from other sources that people don't find as convenient. However, the arguments against eggs are largely misconception, and certain cheeses are fine, most cheese is fine in moderation as well.

Milk is a base, not an acid. I have tried all types of Diets and what Ive found is that what works for one person may not work for another. I stick to common sense. I dont drink milk, but low fat yogurt with some low fat granola is a great source of protein and has bacteria that is great for digestion. I stay away from non whole grain bread and stay away from junk food. I eat a lot of lean beef, chicken, and pork. I hate fish but I take omega 3's. Just by cutting out junk and fast foods I lost 7% bodyfat and gained 9 lbs of muscle. If you are gonna splurge, do it early in the day.redrum said:Randy is (or was) also a big advocate of the alkaline type diet, and from what I remember milk causes acidity.

redrum said:Yes, Milk is a base. I didn't say it was an acid, I said it causes acidity. There's a whole chart on here somewhere (back when Randy was talking about his Alkaline diet) and almost all animal products were acidic, as in they pushed out PH balance into a more acidic range.
Weird eh? Things like lemons, which are highly acidic, actually make our PH more alkaline.
Heres a link that kinda shows what I mean:

I should mention that certain dairy products are alkaline (according to this chart, anyhow).
Cottage cheese and whey (thankfully) are included in the alkaline section.
