He is always making avoiding dairy a big deal when he talks about his diet. Why?

Maybe he's lactose intolerant?

Most products based around dairy have a ton of carbs and high calories in them. There is also debate that dairy such as milk isn't good for the human body etc., and as Alan said, there is always the factor that he may be lactose intolerant.

The arugment about milk is somewhat agreeable, we really aren't supposed to be drinking something designed for baby cows, but it does adequately replace nutrients we idealistically should be getting from other sources that people don't find as convenient. However, the arguments against eggs are largely misconception, and certain cheeses are fine, most cheese is fine in moderation as well.

Can you elaborate on which cheeses you are talking about. I use fat free cheese in my eggs and Feta cheese in my salads. Are these ok in your opinion?

feta has a ton of salt compared to other cheeses... just saying.

i always thought it was bcuz dairy is mucus forming and promoting... which is the reason why doctors recommend against consuming dairy when u're sick..

i did an experiment when i was younger on that.. and found that i coughed like crazy for a few hours everytime i drank milk.. (when sick).. :icon_cry2

Also alot of people have milk tolerance issues. For example I am mildly allergic to milk, so my sinuses/allergies get all fucked up if I drink much milk

A lot of conditioned athletes just don't drink any liquid calories. I've read that dairy can cause inflammation with some people. Also, milk has no hydrating effect whatsoever.

This is true.

Also, cows milk tastes effing gross.

Randy is (or was) also a big advocate of the alkaline type diet, and from what I remember milk causes acidity.

Milk is a base, not an acid. I have tried all types of Diets and what Ive found is that what works for one person may not work for another. I stick to common sense. I dont drink milk, but low fat yogurt with some low fat granola is a great source of protein and has bacteria that is great for digestion. I stay away from non whole grain bread and stay away from junk food. I eat a lot of lean beef, chicken, and pork. I hate fish but I take omega 3's. Just by cutting out junk and fast foods I lost 7% bodyfat and gained 9 lbs of muscle. If you are gonna splurge, do it early in the day.

There are many reasons one would'nt want to drink milk from cows, with the obvious being allergies, not intolerance, but allergy. Many people's allergies (whether known or not) will go away once they avoid dairy. The real problem is in the processing. Today's feeding methods incorporate high protein soy based foods instead of fresh green grass. Cows develop huge pituitary glands which pump out a lot of milk, but require antibiotics to compensate. Then they pasteurize the prodcut and you're left with very little enzymes and have a tough time to assimilate it.
If you want milk stick to almond milk and you should be fine.
And to the person who said it was becuase milk has a lot of carbs in it, uhhh...no. Any professional athlete is going to be sucking down carbs like they are the last thing on earth.

Yes, Milk is a base. I didn't say it was an acid, I said it causes acidity. There's a whole chart on here somewhere (back when Randy was talking about his Alkaline diet) and almost all animal products were acidic, as in they pushed out PH balance into a more acidic range.

Weird eh? Things like lemons, which are highly acidic, actually make our PH more alkaline.

Heres a link that kinda shows what I mean:
http://www.chimachine4u.com/AA.html

I should mention that certain dairy products are alkaline (according to this chart, anyhow).
Cottage cheese and whey (thankfully) are included in the alkaline section.

maybe hes talking about icecream and all that jazzy stuff.

This is the chart I refer to for the same thing:

2nd or 3rd page has a great chart.

fat free cheese, sounds like ultra processed garbage, if you are going to eat it buy natural cheeses which will have fat in them, just my opinion.
