I don't remember too many people calling Bisping racist when he ripped up the Cuban flag and stepped on it cageside while Romero was fighting.

But when Colby calls a crowd of hostile Brazilians who were constantly booing and provoking him filthy animals, everybody loses their minds and calls him racist.

Why do you give Bisping a pass but not Colby?

Cause he’s British, he’s doing it for the queen and whatnot.

Ripping a flag is racism now?

Check your premises, soldier.

Bisping ripping up the flag was a one time thing and honestly I'd forgotten about it; I did hate him for it at the time. Idk if I'd call it racism but it was extremely disrespectful at the least. Colby's entire schtick is based on calling all Brazilians filthy animals over and over and over again.

Covington insulted a whole country directly while Bisping insulted Romero.

Also Bisping gets tons of shit. All the time. For a long time now.

His name was used to critisize fighters chins.

A flag represents a country.

If you tear up and step on a flag to insult someone, you are insulting their entire country as well.

A flag is a piece of fabric, Brazilians are people

One is childish/disrespectful the other is xenophobic/prejudicial

(Obviously)

Edit: Also, Bisping has a bit of charisma whereas Colby is just an unpleasant internet troll

He ripped up a paper flag.

Come on.

And Romero answered in a similar manner.

Colby didn't physically hurt anyone either, he just called them filthy animals after they had called him god knows what.

Bisping could have insulted Romero in tons of different ways but he chose to rip up his country's flag.

I don't see how ripping a flag is an insult to just 1 person, that is an insult to every Cuban who is represented by that flag.

You do realize that in the US it is illegal to burn or desecrate the US flag, right?

Because Bisping is witty and speaks well.

There are millions of ways he could have insulted Romero but what he chose to do was rip up a nation's flag.

You know that desecrating a US flag in the US is considered illegal, right?

My wife is Cuban, it is illegal to do the there also. She didn't feel disrespected by it. Romero doesn't really seem to be that patriotic either

You asked the difference between ripping a piece of fabric and insulting and demeaning an entire people. Calling someone an animal is clearly more offensive than tearing up a flag that someone just randomly happened totbe born under

What is the big deal with flags on here? Brits have them on Toilet seats and such so to Bisping ripping up the Cuban flag was nothing more than a wind up. Only in America is a piece of fabric more important than people. Completely backwards.

How can it be racist when there live like more than 5 different races in Cuba and Brazil.
It's actually quite the opposite, he insults them all at once as equals.
He's not singling out a specific race.

Yeah it is pretty hilarious.

You say its not as offensive, yet it is not illegal to call someone a filthy animal, but it IS illegal to desecrate an American flag.

Well, I think either they both are racist or neither one is.

Maybe racist isn't the right word, xenophobic is better. At the core its all the same though, its hatred, oppression or prejudice towards a foreign people.
