He retired with two belts. I'm sure Dana is thrilled about the idea of a boxer calling himself a two-division UFC champ. Bottom line is, you have to lose the belt before Dana will let you compete outside of the UFC.

GSP jumped up and destroyed bisping who beat Anderson easily, bisping is the better fighter between himself and Anderson and gsp smashed him to take his belt lol. Anderson was always scared to fight anyone legit at lhw (and no Forrest is not a good fighter.)
Gsp would still draw, was a champ at last appearance and consistently lied to the ufc about his intentions. It isn't a similar situation

Anderson probably fought out his contract, and he was getting Anderson Silva money...so yeah pretty basic really. He literally has nothing left to prove he has set records that likely will not be touched and he's still very much loved by a sizable number of MMA/Combat sports fans. Let him go box and do GOAT things.
