why do you like mma?

Since the young age I was always looking for deeper explanations at whatever I was involved in and wasn't satisfied with short answers that doesn't make me understand how the things work and stuff... so I fell in love with martial arts when I realized it's much more than I thought it is at first. I am also guided by mindset that everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

Martial arts have many intricacies, you can spend a lifetime uncovering it only to find out you're at the beginning again. Just looking at jiu jitsu from the outside you can see how one move can counter another one and when you commit yourself into it you become vulnerable for something that you haven't been before, but you can't be twice at once if that makes sense. :D It's like a circle and circle, as we know, have no ends. That's why I said it's like a never ending source for learning. I always get excited when I notice and learn new things so for me it's a drive (even tho it's not my profession).

very insightful post, thanks dude!

Well said at the bolded. if more people had this mindset, they would live a happier life and take less for granted.

So basically...
Learning brings you excitement, and this excitement is energy... in other words, knowledge is power.

Not gonna lie I crossed over from pro-wrestling, obviously through Ken Shamrock around the late 90s.

Then WWE started to suck around mid-2000s so I switched full time. I was training some TMAs at the time as well.

I still occasionally watch wrestling from the 80s-90s though.

I like the part where you're not sure if the guy who just crumpled to the ground is dead or not.

Closest thing to real combat or free form fighting..

Great physical challenge..cool to see the techniques and the power/speed some guys possess

I study martial arts...its a sport that relates to my training

Always Entertaining, every fight tells a story

Wish to compete in MMA myself..would love to try and be a world champion

alternate endings. All other gay porn ends the same.

that's how I was until I discovered hockey 4 years ago. used to hate all team sports.

I needed a new sport though when mma fighters started fighting once a year. Kills excitement.

I went the opposite route. I was balls deep into hockey and whenever the NY Rangers would be in the playoffs I'd stop everything to watch it. That gave me a similar buzz of adrenaline but this is more entertaining for me

why do you love this game?
just wondering.

go.

Great question.

So, I actually convinced my father to let us get the PPV from Colorado for UfC 1 !
I was in high school, my older cousins came over, friends came, it was a spectacle and a fun experience. I stopped following after a few more events.

Got back in the Chuck Lidell, Rich Franklin, Tim Sylvia era, discovered Pride, went to every UFC PPV at a house party, chipped on towards buying.

Fast forward to now....

I really hope for the good of MMA that Dana is discovered via class action lawsuit or somehow UFC dies.

Wouldnt think of paying for any UFC content now.

Violence and the challenge of the ultimate chess match.

Violence without the chess match is bumfights or even toughman.

And chess match without the violence is....well, chess. Or wrestling.

I was just as excited when I saw a small bjj guy sub a big dude as I was when I saw a big dude destroy another big dude. I've noticed that's the biggest difference between me and some of my friends who haven't bothered to stick with the sport. They liked big-dude-on-big-dude violence. Tank was their favorite. I did too, but I also loved the subs. The technique. I became a life long fan, and they didn't.

Ultimate chess match with no PED’s or head stomps?
<DontBelieve1>

It’s the poniest front ever.

Starting out preferring boxing but boxing was a disorganized cluster fuck and the history was far better than the present. So I switched when I was like 12 or 13, UFC had champs and a clearish hierarchy of who was the best. Also was quicker paced and more exciting than boxing. Don't enjoy BJJ and ground game but kicks, elbows and grappling are awesome(find the shoot, clinch and taking someone down to be exciting to watch maybe more than striking even if I find what happens next to be incredibly boring) and more than make up for it.

Mainly watch 205 and 125. 205 best combo of power and athleticism. 125 fastest paced(135 and 145 are good too). Was always in and out of following 170.

beautiful answer.

what is it that you like about having less rules?
or why is less rules better?
It's not that there's less rules, it's not sports are essentially combat with agreed upon rules -- you have to put the ball in the basket, etc. Fighting is just... well, fighting! We agree upon certain stuff like no eyepokes, etc, but there's no pretense beyond that.

Its just expression of human physicality in its purest form
similar reason why i like porn too or mathematics
Its a pure expression, i dont give a fuck about what fighting style they follow its a pure form of expression

I like pure fighting. But to be honest lately I've been more into boxing and kickboxing, since I find the skill level to be much higher in terms of striking. Once you start watching guys like Nieky Holzken and other kickboxers, you realise that MMA has very average to low level striking, with few exceptions.

I love to fight, i love to challenge myself and test my limits. MMA was the best way to do it. Other Martial Arts like Boxing, Wrestling or TaeKwonDo felt more like a game. I felt complete when fighting almost like in a real fight and it is a hell of a fun.

Because I’m a low life white trash.

On a serious note, this is pretty accurate for me as well:
Because it's more of a thrill than any other sport, especially huge championship fights

Plus I don't like team sports

go.

I loathe most things about MMA. I think its fan base is pure trash, the UFC is a circus in the way it promotes fighters and especially in its matchmaking. MMA fighters are way too often low-class bums.

Honestly at this point for me in most cases MMA and everything related a guilty pleasure. Like a car crash that's you can't stop staring at.
