Why do they even do P4P Rankings?

It’s that “new” math you’ve been hearing about since the 70s.

I guess since Joanna has fought in two different divisions? I really don’t know. It’s all a big circus.

I'm not gonna make an argument for the above but, you are well aware that P4P rankings work very very differently from divisional rankings right? It's completely possible for someone to be higher ranked in a division, and still be lower on the P4P rankings. That's really not difficult to understand.

I really hope you all understand that. Please, Sherdog, please.

Well, anyone with half a brain would put Joanna higher on a P4P list than Rose.

    She has accomplished more.

Women's p4p ranking shouldn't even exist in the first place.

That's for WMMA, you're the only one who cares.

If you're asking about p4p rankings in general, they exist to compare fighters of different weights to each other. It's been around in boxing for at least 30 years (that I remember).

It really isn't good for anything and leads to people saying stupid things like "GSP is the GOAT". When, in reality, GSP isn't even close to being the greatest of all time as there were likely thousands of people who could have beaten him while he was in his prime. He might be the "p4p GOAT" - but it's useless to even argue that.

    The explanation is easy.
The Rankings is right now, the momentum.
Pound-for-pound is overall career. And JJ was at the top for far longer than Rose was.

Is that why fighters who are about to fight go up the p4p ranks. And as soon as they lose, their p4p rank really drops?

It is simply a tool to promote fights.

For views and clicks. The public constantly discusses it all the time. They need a piece of the action.

It's so they have some fake agenda to push the tiny people's fights. Because IF this 5'2 125lb human wasn't a tiny middle schooler, he might beat you up. And IF WMMA had more hardware in the trunks, they might could beat up a middle schooler.

NBA should start an Inch 4 Inch chart. Bogues would top all the giants he played against.

P4P rankings in general are fake news. But like you said, it has a whole other level of ridiculousness when the UFC themselves is making them.
