Like for every hole their solution is to stick in an interim plug. It's not fun , it doesn't make the fights more exciting and it only serves to devalue the actual championships.

Why not be a little inventive u morons ? Like hang a bag with a $100,000 in it over the octagon, winner take all.

They think the PPVs will only sell if there is a belt on the line, any belt.

I don't mind though the fighters make championship purse even if the belt is interim so good for them.

Bc to the general public that they are trying to persuade to become fans, fights for belts matter more than "regular" fights.

Unfortunately for real fans, it is exactly what you described. But we aren't the priority for the owners, they want new fans, and new or potential fans are ignorant, unfortunately.

Because WME are clueless casuals

and because Zuffa did it, and they have no idea what to do

Because he remembers how cool hulkamania dolls looked with that shiny strap. Brock Lesner is Dana's real life Hulkamania doll.

Part of the problem is also inactive champions. Champions should be automatically stripped after 12 months without a fight, scheduled one upcoming or not. They need to start putting the screws to their champions in every way possible. You can't have the LW belt out for 1.5 years, WW belt out for over 1 year, FW belt out for who knows how long until Max is back.

The belts should be defended 2x a year, minimum. They need to pay their fighters with escrow contracts that 50% of their pay (PPV cut) is held back, and only paid to them when they defend their belt in the next fight -- and they forfeit 50% of that money if they don't defend or vacate within 6 months. They then forfeit 100% if they don't defend or vacate within 12 months.
