Why do so many MMA fighters get hurt in training compared to boxers?

Is it just part of the sport? is there a way to prevent it?
 
Wrestlings hard on the knees and every aka practice begins with a sledge hammer to the knee
 
Grappling is grueling. It torques the joints, strains the muscles, etc. A big problem is camps training too hard, especially during sparring.
 
The secret is leg extensions for the fastest injuries
 
When you only have punches and cardio vs punches, kicks, knees, elbows, grappling, judo, bjj and cardio..... i hope that explains itself right there.
 
The training is vastly different from boxing, for starters. In some cases it's also a lack of intelligent training.

Wrestling and Judo style take downs probably get a lot of people hurt. Also, a lot of MMA fighters train like retards.

The same reason Navy SEALS get hurt more than secretaries.
 
OP, maybe you should, i don't know, post evidence of your assertion that this is true?
 
Why do ppl post this stuff in the UFC section?
 
Do boxers wrestle and bjj?
I do, Im a pro boxer and train with Joe Soto at CVCA. I focus more on my boxing career but the wrestling, grappling strengthens my legs and overall body. I definitely get more injuries in MMA training down to my toes hurting, in boxing the worst I have felt is sore neck from head shots to some shoulder and arm pulls from movements. MMA is far more grueling and painful in every aspect.
 
Grappling is risky business
 
MMA training is brutal man, the grappling is probably where most of these injuries happen is what I think, can't give any insight because I've never put in time.

Boxing is all sparring and cardio from what I've seen in build up training for those type of fights.

MMA seems like football drills and military training to me. Gotta give it to all those guys and gals that put in the work regardless of rank or where they're at, pro/amature.
