Why do people think if the UFC paid the fighter more they would go under?

I hear lots of people say that If the UFC "over pays" their fighters they will go under like the other orgs?

Dana white has made more money than the UFC has paid every fighter to ever fight for the UFC combined, and didnt invest a dime or risk his health fighting trained killers to earn his fortune.

Up until now The UFC has had no reason to share more of the profits with the fighters because fighters were dumb and scared to fight for what they were owed. But with the new breed of smarter fighters who know no one is making money with out them, times are a changing.

UFC are spending a lot of money on expanding into new areas.
They're building a new headquarters which costs a lot of money.
    Advertising, etc.

It's not 100% profit once you take the fighters cut out.

The UFC's worth 3.5 billion dollars. I'm sure they can afford paying the athletes a bit more

    Yep.

And they will often lie and distort the facts about how other org went under as well.

Pride is a perfect example. Pride was heavily financed by their Fuji TV deal. They lost that due to their s candle with the Yakuza.

But according to half the sherdog brats around hear it was because of not doing it like Zuffa.

That's all to the end of the UFC empire. We don't benefit from a giant international organization. Be benefit from a small concentrated Kumite type event. That's what this thing is, that's what fascinated everyone to begin with.

That's the benefit in living in a capitalist country. It could be argued that without zuffas takeover and lhw fertittas backing mma would be anywhere near where it is today. In mainstream eyes and the casual it's only been a semi major sport for ten years or so. Less maybe.

I'm sure the UFC can pay it's fighters a heck of a lot more than they do, but why would they? I don't buy for second that they can't.

Those organizations, that drowned, may well have overpaid their fighters, but that doesn't mean the UFC can't. Also, every single sports organization including the NFL, MLB etc, cries poverty when the subject of athlete pay comes up. Nothing new here.

    You are correct, sir.
That's why he was a 10% (&, I believe, now 9% or 9.5%) owner as well as the president.

Personally, there are multiple factors why I'm way less interested in MMA than I was 4-5 years ago.

    1) Dana is a prick and doesn't behave like a president of a multi-billion dollar company. Very tired of his bullshit and mount Everest size ego.
    2) Fighter pay is a farce compared to other pro sports. These fighters are sacrificing their long term healths for 15K/15K. It's complete rubbish.
    3) The incapability of creating multiple new stars to replace the golden age's washed up/retired legends(Wand, Chuck, Shogun, Randy, Nog, Rampage, Fedor, etc)
    4) Increasing the number of cards and dilluting the fuck out of them. It took almost 16 years to reach UFC 100. Five years later and we're already at UFC 174.
    5) Going after fans who Stream events. I understand they are losing revenue, but perhaps they should look in the Mirror and ask themselves if they're business plan is flawed instead of attacking some 20 year old who lives in his mom's basement just cause he streamed a few UFCs.

I'll stick to following MMA from afar and Watch 3 UFC cards a year at a Hooters with buddies like I do now. No more forking 60$ per watered down card, 10 times a year, when there's other entertaining sports on TV.
