why do people act like Chris Weidman would be a undersized light heavyweight

People say he would be a small LHW because he would be. There are guys like Manuwa, Gustafsson, Rumble. Jones dwarfs Weidman.

Manuwa is less tall/smaller framed tha Weidman, and so is Rumble.
Manuwa on his on word said he cuts from a lean 216 to 220 and tries to remain as lean as possible out of camps..
And Rumble fought AA at 230ish and was carrying more fat than now so hard to thinks he cuts from more than 225ish.

Weidman would be at least as big if not bigger than both if he chose to fight at LHW.
He has a similar or even bigger frame than Bader and Davis ( certainly is taller ) and used to be wrestling in the -197lbs division with them in NCAA

I guarantee to you all, that Chris is gonna lose bad to a lot of Light Heavyweights.

That's a big stretch considering the guy is unbeaten, has the frame, skills and the LHW top 10 isn't that good anymore apart from the top 5.

I say Chris smashes anyone who's not top 5 and gives a good fight to most top 5 members..

What is that supposed to prove ? Tito had shoes on BTW..

"Too small to fight at LHW Weidman says " Hello " " !

lol Is Tito wearing stilettos?.. It "proves" Weidman isn't way bigger than Tito, as OP suggests..

I feel a bit of Weidman dislike coming from your direction, though! LOL...

Weidman is the biggest champion for his his division hands down. To give some perspective his height of 74" is the height of an average HW. The average MW is 72". More importantly he has a bigger reach than Cain almost 78". That's bigger than your average HW. The average MW reach is 74".

Weidman is absurdly huge for MW, it's not even close. He needs to move up..

Having stood next to both of them, The Chris is about the same size as Shogun, a fighter people have been saying should be a middleweight for years.

Shogun walks around at 230. no way he's a MW..

Stopped reading at the part where you said Weidman makes Tito look small

On no planet with any lighting from any angle will Weidman be anything besides smaller than Tito. Then to say Weidman even "makes him look small" just warrants no response.

By the way, in case anyone is interested Chris said he walks at 210 pre-camp these days. Would plan to bulk up to 225 walking if he ever moved to LHW, per MMA hour.
The Chris lost 34 pounds in two weeks when he was scheduled to fight Maia. That made his walk around weight 219lbs.
Tito is on record saying he walked around at 225lbs during his early career.
Both are 6'2.

Weidman could fight at LHW no problem.

Jones couldn't but you are smoking crack if you think DC couldn't cut to MW

He is pudgy at 205

Even if he got lipo, his muscle density would prevent him from getting to MW comfortably. Don't be fooled by the pudge. Muscle is what's heavy. Body fat doesn't account for that much weight.

people have a hard time understanding that angles affect the way things appear in pictures.

because they dont know Weidman has the perfect size to be LHW

Because weight cut, that makes him undersized at LHW, he could bulk up in weight, or just fight the bottom of the barrel if you really want to make him fight at LHW, like Silva did.

If he didn't gain any mass he would be a little undersized at LHW but his height and reach would still be good. He could put on 10-15lbs and be a good sized LHW.

Fact: Chris Weidman's walk-around weight is less than Matt Serra's walk-around weight.

And Serra was a medium sized LW and small WW.

I disagree, height and reach aren't everything when some guys are build like fire hydrants, like Hughes, Serra, Sherk.

He recently told Arel Helwani he is walking around at 210lbs.

of course he would be a bit undersized. compare him to guys like OSP, Bader, Glover, Gustafsson, Manuwa, etc.

However, that doesn't mean he wouldn't perform well.

Weidman would be a small 205 pounder when he makes Tito Ortiz looks small...

Er, but he doesn't make Tito look small though.

Tito is massive, and if he properly faced up to Weidman at a weigh in, the difference would be pretty clear.

Weidman is a giant mw, but remember that the gap between mw & lhw is bigger than all the other weight class gaps. That's why Chael got thrown about with ease by Jones and Rashad. Giant mw's often don't make for big lhw's. Weidman looks huge vs small guys like Machida and Vitor, and skinny guys like Anderson, but if he was facing up with Jon Jones or Alexander Gustafsson or Glover Teixeira or even Rumble Johnson, he'd be noticeably smaller.

He's a big MW and probably wouldn't have too much trouble moving the LHW.

So George Roop has the height of an average HW. I guess he is ducking Cain?
