It seems like just a few years after highschool so many people I knew ballooned up and completely let themselves go.

The sad part is many of them have a partner who puts in work and stays fit.

You just know she's gonna hop on her trainer or hold some serious resentment.

I did at some point, lazyness, had kids, got into a routine. Typical for middle aged men. But I felt like crap. That hardest thing is to eat well and do exercise. It has to become a routine. And the good news it's addictive. I need an outlet, so it's not too hard for me. Here is a trick to get you in shape:

1. Cut junk food, fried food and sugar. You need will power here. Alternative is pre-diabetes.
2. Find an activity you like. Sports, gym, rock climbing, what ever..but you have to do it. 3 times a week minimum.
3. For longevity into your 80s you must incorporate a weight resistance program.

I am 50, just joined my local CrossFit gym. I am so excited. I told my son if he joins with me I'll buy him a new computer. Don't care what other's think about what you are doing to say in shape. It's your health. Not theirs. Just do it bro!

First, college buffets and freedom to eat whatever and whenever. Years later, it was from partying too often.

Lost all the extra weight and currently, I'm in shape.

Most people use their kids as an excuse.
My kids

but going to telework during the pandemic and aging metabolism was a bit rough for the waisteline. In the end the extra lbs were my fault though and I should have been a bit more disciplined.

For me it was a combination of guilt, work, kids and alcohol.

It’s not my problem, people just need to deal with the more slovenly me!

Garbage diet is pushed on people so damn hard then one day you start blaming your wife for shrinking your clothes

See this one a lot. Meanwhile a couple I know is in the best shape ever because they're always put taking the kids for hikes etc.
This is when the kids can hike. The newborn-3ish phase you're limited on what you can do unless you have flexible and reliable child care,

Injuries, Covid, depression, drugs, laziness, convenience, food tastes good. How easy is it to click a few buttons and have any type of food you desire dropped off right at your front door and you can eat it in bed.

Dropped all that shit as injuries started to heal and Covid waned. Been doing 2 a days and eating better. Trying to get into prime 20 something shape. Having a fine ass new gf 14 years younger helps for motivation.

That's amazing that they get the kids involved and teach them good habits.

Parents should want to stay in shape so they're alive as long as possible for their kids and aren't a burden on them at the end of their life.

Ivd known a couple dudes that had heart attacks in their 50s and almost dying is what it took for them to change. They both said I want to be around for my kids.
