Why did the UFC decide to ruin Benoit’s career?

Either you are that good or you are not. If he knew he was a bum he should have turned the fights down

Dramatic much? You probably would've said the same thing about Moicano after the Aldo/Zombie fights. BSD is only 28, he'll be fine if he has any perseverance.

He had some potential, but now is 0-2 and his best win is… Matt Frevola? Why the heck did the UFC suddenly throw this guy to the wolves? Porier brought the worst gameplan in history of “attempt endless guillotines even though he’s never guillotined anyone in his career” and still knocked Benoit out. Then Moicano, a fringe ranked guy, absolutely embarrasses him in front of a home crowd.
Who are they suppose to give him, Clay Guida? Tony Ferguson? He almost beat Porior, and he lost to a guy ranked lower than him. You either got it, or you don't.

For better and for worse the UFC doesn't treat prospects like they do in boxing. Sink or swim; the UFC doesn't ease most fighters into the deep end.

Some ppl would call the opportunities given to him ‘Dana White privilege’.

The way he got destroyed in the grappling, supposedly his best skill set, was an eye opener. It just turns out that BSD was vastly overhyped. That tough guy DDP/Jiri style doesnt get you to the belt in skilled divisions.
To play devil's advocate, I'd say Adesanya/Pereira 1 in MMA was the highest level striking I've ever seen. There was also enough grappling at least to remind everyone it was an MMA fight. At least one round ended on the ground.

Maybe fighting just looks a little different when serious power is in play

Hah, that is why I said 'most fighters.' There are a few example of them giving fighters a chance to grow, but you'll find twice as many prospects who were turned into hamburger.

Thrown to wolves? He was a big favorite over both Poirier and Moicano. Dude was just overrated and isn’t that good.

How did they decide to ruin his career by matching him up again Moicano in France ?
This/end thread.

They gave him a huge hometown main even opportunity against a guy that up till now has both looked, and in fact been, beatable.
That being said, Moicano is clearly on a run, and this was also a huge opportunity for him.
LOL, or is whenever two guys with stellar records or who are on a good run fight, it's always the UFC "ruining" one of their careers?

p.s. Wouldn't most underserved title shots (read: fantastic opportunities for the challengers) where the guy loses be "ruining" their careers by this logic?
