Why did the UFC book Nunes-Tate if they want Ronda back

Ronda could have taken her belt from Holm instead of Nunes or Tate who she already beat twice? You know what I mean (Hendricks voice)

It would have been the best choice for promotions and getting Ronda's stardom back and if she dosen't get the belt back from Holm or atleast beat her then she will never regain her super stardom and Holm will always be her shadow. Bad move from the UFC or they just don't want Ronda back? because Holm can chose to decline a rematch with Ronda now.

Once your invincibility is taken the casuals will never be excited again unless that specfic fighter avenges his or her loss which means the UFC were not in the right denying Holm the rematch with Tate which means Holm can also deny a rematch with Ronda and that means it will be difficult selling ronda as the baddest woman alive

Rousey/Holm II fight. Money for UFC.

OR...

Holm loses fight before rematch. Rousey doesn't need to fight her until Holm 'works her way back'. Rousey has fights in the meantime. Money for UFC.

Holm could fight Cyborg. Money for UFC.


Rousey will still be a big seller. Rematch or not.
 
cuz Rousey is mentally broken. even if she is booked for a fight im giving an 80% chance she pulls out.

They have already thrown crazy cash at promoting Ronda, it is kind of hard to turn your back at that.
 
What makes you think Holly would decline a rematch with Ronda, TS?
 
They may be thinking November in New York is a perfect time for her return who knows

Thats where you lost me. Ronda didn't just become Ronda out of the blue it's because of her invincibility and being undefeated and now she will become just another fighter in the UFC nothing really special.

People really underestimate casual fans and really don't understand their train of thoughts. they like superheroes, GOATs, undefeated fighters etc etc. Why do you think Brock Lesnar became so popular? or where do you think the Millions of Youtube followers Kimbo slice had came from? the same with Ronda. once that invincibility is taken then they are gone for good

They want Ronda to regain the title, so they want to keep both her and the title away from Holm. Expect them not to keep Holm active while they set up Ronda to beat Meisha. The question is if post-destruction Ronda can still beat Tate.
 
I was surprised they booked Tate at all for 200. I think it's better for the UFC to have her as champ and wait for Tate/Rousey 3 than to risk Tate losing to Holm or Nunes.

I guess Tate just really wanted to be part of the big show of UFC 200, and to get a big payday, rather than wait for the Rousey payday. The UFC shouldn't really say "no" to champions if they want to fight. That wouldn't be good.

And I think they chose Nunes over Holm for a few reasons. First is that they probably don't want UFC 200 to be a direct sequel of UFC 196, featuring the same 2 fights at the top of the card. Second is that the eventual Holm/Rousey II fight sells without a title. Third is that Holm maybe has a greater chance of beating Tate than Nunes does and they don't want that.
 
Because if Holly is champ there's almost no chance Ronda comes back at all.

It's strange way of thinking from their own POV. There is no gain in Ronda beating Tate for the 3rd time and honestly believe that Tate has nothing for Ronda maybe Nunes can provide something new. All of this just seems weird

I'm not totally sure what you mean. I think you're saying they shouldn't want to book Rousey/Tate 3 because we've already seen it twice?

Ultimately, they care about business. The fight will sell and that's what matters. And it's interesting considering Tate's improvement and win streak, and to see how Rousey comes back from the loss, and to see whether Tate can use the blueprint that Holm set to try and win. On the other hand, they obviously want Rousey as champion, and she has a good chance against a fighter she's beaten twice already, while Holm could be Ronda's kryptonite. Amanda Nunes isn't as interesting business-wise because people don't know or care as much about her as they do Holm and Tate.

Because they bring the most $$$

After losing, Brock sold 1.6 million. After losing again, he still sold around 700k.

Rousey isn't going from 1 million to 200k. She'll still get around 700k viewers. She's loved; her return will be news and a big event.

Just because they aren't hitting a million+, doesn't mean they aren't a draw.
 
Has anyone considered that the UFC doesn't want to risk Holly losing to Tate twice? Holly has looked good in the UFC one time. Just once.

Maybe they feel like the more she fights the worse she looks and the harder it will be to promote that big money rematch with Ronda.
 
Rousey is not beating Holm - ever. If Holm beats Tate we will never see champ Rousey again. Rousey will make short work of both Tate and Nunez though. I am sure she could do it back to back lol
 
The UFC don't care when Rousey comes back, just as long as it's in 2016. As long as returns by the end of 2016 the UFC can still make a massive amount of money off her.
