Why did Jones look so terrible towards the end of his LHW run?

Anybody can look like the GOAT fighting a dude named "The Janitor" or a retired firefighter with CTE.
but not anyone has the same resume as jones

he literaly has the best and hardest resume all time

so what does that make other candidate goat fighters?

same thing as he fought gustafson
no motivation
we all saw what he did to gustafson in the rematch

the man is bored and is slowly getting unmotivated
its funny his worst version still cant be beaten
and whats worst version of him almost crippled reyes and santos

Drug test wise, that was the cleanest section of his career since USADA.

But gee it's hard to know why exactly

Bad life choices, injuries and getting old. Nobody knows when jones or any other fighter was clean or at their cleanest.

One of the main issues was that jones stopped training as much and DJ and other fighters stated that Jones use to be at the bar every night drinking after training. He was also a addict during that time as he was kicked out of wink for running around with a group of goons, getting drunk, doing cocaine, and getting in trouble.

Motivation, life choices. getting old, and many other things. During his backend at LHW, he was a mess. DJ talks about it at length with another fighter about jones always at the bar drinking, just getting drunk. Jones coasted on talent but it caught up to him as age did. You cannot drink every night after training at 34 and think it will not catch up to you. You cannot do cocaine one week before a fight or during training and think it wont catch up to you. At that age, he could not get away with what he could when he was a young explosive athlete.

He was fighting a lot of dudes in their prime
The LHW's he was fighting were in their prime and lot better than the HW's he's currently fighting.

Stipe is aged our and Gane is a kickboxer with novice grappling.
People forget he fought prime Reyes, Thiago, and Anthony Smith in less than a year. Anybody wouldve been worn out

He actually tested positive in all of his USADA period fights where he looked to be in his prime against OSP, Gus 2, and DC 2.

He looked human against Reyes, Smith, Santos, and Gane couldn't grapple.

After 11 months with no USADA he suddenly looks great again, albeit against an ancient Stipe.

To give him credit where it's due he absolutely tore through the LHW division in his early to mid 20s when he was relatively inexperienced and most of the roster was on something.

He fought everyone.

For much longer than anyone else.

He won all the fights.

Fucking get over it already.

JBJ is a very good MMA fighter. PFP - there are a few other fighters who are as good as JBJ. But not many.

Who fucking cares about PFP?

Just enjoy the fights and stop focusing on stupid shit that doesn't matter.

When the bell dings, a good matchup is fun to watch.

Good news: we prolly get to see him fight again. Prolly against top talent.

I can't remember. How long has he been doing this shit?

Stop fucking crying all the time. Get a haircut and get a real job. Try to enjoy life by doing something other than whining.

Almost all of those fighters were washed by the time Jones fought them. Not to mention LHW has historically been a less talent rich division due to basic human sizes.
Biggest myth people parrot. The only washed one was Shogun. DC, Vitor Machida and rampage were all at their peaks.

nobody ever mentions weight curs, but they get much harder on the body as you age.

I'm tired of hearing about Jones/Chael when he literally fought TRTVitor 3 weeks later instead.

He didn't want Chael on short notice because the news floating around was Chael had been prepping for weeks with Dan before Dan officially pulled out and THEY were trying to pull a fast one on him by Chael having prepped for Jon while Jon hadn't prepped for Chael.

He was right to turn it down and isntead opt for him and Vitor having the same 3 weeks to prepare for each other.

Cope harder cuck

I think he was starting to burn out. Especially with all of his personal problems.

All of the above.

A lack of motivation can be a real killer.

The HW division has been historically weak and has seen much better days.

While Jon was aging, the LHW division continued to prosper with young talent

PEDs. I hate to use this argument but there's some truth to it. After Jones was caught picoing up, the USADA was keeping a watchful eye on him which meant he couldn't fully treat his cycle with anti-estrogen blockers or continue to use roids. Look at him against DC 2, he looked really, really skinny. The same shit happened to Vitor Belfort after they banned TRT and Belfort had to go cold turkey without slowly tapering off. Super, super depleted and skinny looking right before his match with Chris Weidman

No, that is not true. Even Jones mentioned many times that he won't take short notice fights, because he needs to prepare for every single fighter. And you guys think he took easy any fight so far, lacked motivation.

He also acknowledge that he started to have trouble at LHW when he was interviewed recently about moving to HW.

Both Reyes and Santos were at their peak when they fought Jones.

Young fighters at their prime against a old and unmotivated lion who went throught 15 years of battles.

And still.

Jones old lion? Santos is 3 years older than Jones, had more fights than Jones. Reyes 2-3 years younger. Gus is the same age. in most fights Jones had age advantage.

Motivation.. Many fighters have said that fighting is 90% mental. If that is true, wouldn't Jones be more motivated to fight a Shogun, Machida, Rampage, or Cormier? Those guys are legends, and Jones finished them all. Now you give him relative nobodies like Reyes and Santos. No disrespect to those guys, but they are not GREAT fighters, thus less motivation. Lets say you are a major league pitcher in baseball. Are you possibly more motivated facing the LA Dodgers or Yankees, than my woeful White Sox? I think the answer is clear.

If you re-read yourself very carefully you might see where you're being deliberately obtuse about why he turned down Chael and instead took Vitor on 3 weeks notice for the very next card.

Chael had secretly been training with Henderson for Jones as they knew Dan was injured and would likely pull out. Jon didn't know that Dan would pull out and so continued prepping just for Dan, not Chael. Jones rightfully turned that down to instead accept him and Vitor EQUALLY got 3 weeks notice for each other instead of Chael having had weeks of prep on him while he had none for Chael.

It's not hard and was perfectly fine to do, especially given Vitor was obviously the much tougher fight for Jones. Like everything about Jones you just latch onto whatever you can to bitch about because you can't bitch about his record.
