I think Cain and JDS are a lot more evenly matched than either of their last two fights would suggest. In both fights, the winner did better than they would normally do and the loser did worse than they would normally do. That being said....why did JDS never let loose at all and drop bombs?

Can any intelligent MMA fans tell me why he was so hesitant? And dont tell me it was cause he gassed, he was hesitant before that even happened.

He just didnt seem to have the confidence of a champ who was fighting somebody he already beat.

JUST LET HIM BANG BRO!

But srs, there is a lot more to mma than just "throwing bombs"

its kind of hard to when ur gassed. He threw that missile of an uppercut at the beginning of the 2nd which if it would have landed cain's head would have been projected into the upper deck. but it missed...

i believe he said he was worried about cains takedowns and grappling. it also does not help that you are gassed and are getting punched in the face by a 250 pound man

i thought he did multiple times. but he was all but out on his feet and dead to the world; those he threw he either missed or did not have massive power behind em.

i can think of at least 6 time he swung for the metaphorical home run. which probably means i'm forgetting another 6.

yeah the ones he threw had some good speed to them but his legs for most of the fight were not undre him.

He would've been taken down much more easier.

JDS's game has always been centered around the jab to the body. I think against Cain, he should've abandoned that, especially when he was gassed, and go head hunting, probably work on the uppercut to time a Cain shot. But then again, I'm no Striking Guy... wonder what he thinks about this.

He was hesitant because of the offensive risks that Cain posed.

In the first fight JDS didn't go randomly throwing haymakers, he simply took advantage of an opportunity that Cain gave him. This time around, Cain didn't give him the opportunity like he did in the first fight

To compound a tighter game plan by Cain, he also managed to close the gap with JDS and rush him leading to the big right hand which sort of took JDS's soul for at least the next 2 rounds

For what it is worth, I didn't think that the last two rounds contained a huge amount of offence from either fighter but the fight was already well won by then

Yeah, I think youre right. JDS was not able to box as well as he normally does because he didnt want to get taken down, than after that big punch came, he was pretty much completely gassed for the rest of the fight.

Cain set a relentless pace and gave Junior no room to breathe. By the time Cain was allowing a bit of distance between them Junior seemed too gassed to even keep his hands up and was just throwing one shot at a time at that stage.

when everything goes against you and your gameplan ; you start gassing out faster , start being more hesitant with punches , and you're confusing after this bomb he got on the first round. That's my opinion on why he wasn't himself

Have you ever grappled with someone who was just miles better than you, in front of other people?

You lose your confidence real fast and your IQ goes with it.

JDS likes to fight at a medium-long range distance and dictate his own pace. He thought he could do this effectively and counter Cain, but Cain ended up hurting him bad and then mauling him. After that, he had no energy left for anything other than one punch at a time.

He is not Leonard Garcia winging punches and hoping they land.

JDS is a skilled fighter. he looks for openings. He tries to pick up timing. if the opponent denies him these then what you see as hesitation is really just defense.

TSA didnt allow him to bring explosives

but 4 realz, Cains pace tired out JDS plus the punch, also you cant let your hands go when you try to prevent takedowns, JDS was precision striking over carpet bombing.
