Why did GSP struggle so much with Jake Shields?

A fighter of GSP"s caliber should not be so afraid of going to the ground with Shields, many other fighters did just fine

Shield's was a good(and pretty underrated) fighter but was outmatched in every area here, but GSP was EXTREMELY safe during this time. add in getting eyepoked and you get this shit show. GSP easily would have handled Shields in guard but would take zero risk.

GSP vs Hardy/Koscheck/Shields is arguably the worst 3 successive title defenses ever in the UFC alongside Silva vs Cote/Leites/Maia.

Agree. Although to be fair, Coté was an injury replacement and Leites/Maia landed 20 strikes combines, they didn throw much more than that, which shows they refuse to any type of engagement. Silva also gave us the Griffin KO in between
 
Because GSP is a good looking guy and Jake Shield plays for the opposite team

Wasn't the Koscheck fight the one where Rogan heaped ridiculous amounts of praise on GSP for using a jab in MMA... a fight that GSP won by taking zero risk and staying at distance jabbing to a decision? Dominant and decisive, boring ass fight.

I think GSP gets a pass on his boring fights in part because he almost always had the entire country of Canada behind him so long as he got the W.
I think all those fights you mentioned were in Canada. It seems like he was only on Canadian cards for the tail end of his career.

Don't remember GSP taking a shot to the back of the head. Everything Serra landed was legal

I find GSP's boring fights over the likes of Kos still impressive, but what doesnt get a pass it's pretending that those are superior performances than the way Silva finished his titltle challengers.

To be fair, that was a great righ hand by Serra and caught GSP just when he was firing his jab. You can see how Georges eyes roll with the impact
 
Eyepokes, eyepokes and some more eyepokes. Literally nothing else. GSP is around a 9.8 as a fighter. Shields in comparison, is around a solid 2.7. Maybe a 2.8 on a good day.

I suggest to ban these kind of uber retard posters, even if they are genuinely mentally challenged and we need to be comprehensive, I honestly think they can find a more productive hobby. It's just a suggestion
