I just watched the fight and it's like Forrest doesn't even believe in himself. He just gives it a lazy try and calls it a night when he's getting tooled. Wasn't it also true that he tested positive for Xanax, an anxiety drug? For a guy who beat Rampage and was tooling Rashad a fight prior, I was always shocked by Forrest's lack of self belief. None of us thought he could stand with Silva, but the guy trained with Couture and was known for underrated wrestling/BJJ and being super huge for the weight class. Why wasn't he training pure wrestling for that fight?

Forrest could've "believed in himself" and shot all the takedowns he wanted, he was still going to get absolutely styled on in that fight.

Anderson already had like 7 title defenses by the time he fought Forest and had embarrassed pretty much everyone...i'm surprised Forest even accepted the fight.

I remember reading that he was very confident headed into that fight actually. Didn't he break his foot warming up with Junior Seau before the fight? Not that it made a huge difference but injuring yourself like that right before has got to take the snuff outta you a bit.

Forest thought he could win, but after he lost he had to build a narrative that the fans would accept without losing his popularity. It's "cool" to pretend Anderson was unbeatable.

He said when Silva tagged him that first time he got scared, & decided that if he could just catch Silva with one good shot it would slow everything down to the pace he needed it to be. But he never landed that one good shot. He also said he should've went for a TD or even pulled guard but he just didn't.

Tooled Rashad? Rashad beat the fuck out of him. Brutal stoppage, too.

Forrest may have had more luck if he tried to clinch and stall Silva to the later rounds. Silva was too fast and crafty back then.

But I mean, just stylistically, Forrest's wild, slow, striking style was tailor made for Silva. Everyone that gave him a chance was thinking of the size advantage and Forrest's supposed wrestling and BJJ. He could have been proud of himself if he just tried with all his heart and grit to make it a wrestling match. Instead, he got clowned like no one we will ever see again.

I bet money on Rashad, but Forrest was winning easily until he got caught. I was actually real disappointed with Rashad since I figured he'd win much easier. Forrest did well, but you're right that the end result was him getting the shit beat out of him.

Uh...Rashad was getting his ass beat till he landed that one shot. Forest was clearly in the lead in that fight. Rashad actually looked awful.

He said the key to winning was throwing a jab left high kick combo. No kidding. He said when he does it people are going to be amazed how easy it was. Paraphrasing a bit but that's the gist.

Forrest actually said that he was losing confidence each time that Anderson dodged his shots. It's not that he didn't believe in himself enough, it's just that he didn't have the skills necessary to give Anderson a tough fight on the feet.

He opened the fight with that, once he missed with both strikes it was all downhill.

He's actually commented on the fight and was a good sport about how childish Anderson made him look and his mindset while it was happening
