    I don't get it.

You're a highly decorated striker with numerous championships in striking sports...

So, why did you decided to grapple with the grappler?

She panic wrestled after eating Maia's right hand in Rd 1 and decided to make it a boring L&P fest

    No idea.

She could have used that activity in RD5 from RD1/2.....

Maybe it was due to her layoff.....

To prove she could out grapple her, which she did. In that division she can pretty much choose how she wins these fights.

Shevchenko: "I watched her last fight... I knew she was going to be tough"

Yes Valentina, that's why you decided to grapple with her, right?

Because it was the safe path to victory. Dominating position nullifies Maia's pressure and clinch game, and tires her out.

Because striking you can get caught. On the ground she was safe.

She wanted to wear her opponnent down and take the steam out of her punches bcause maia hits hard, although shes not a technical striker.

According to her post fight interview, she didn't feel 100% coming back from injury. I kind of believe it she would initiate the grappling when she was smashing Maia on the feet, totally unnecessary.

I assumed it was to prove that she could out grapple her. Maia held her own though
