Because even in a Loss he stands to gain much more financially than he would in the Championship match unfortunately. Not that hard to understand, he said it on the JRE plain as day that he's taking the fight to help his Family even more.

Dustin does want the Championship(Or at least I think he still does) but the money he'll make fighting Conor is too good for him to pass up seeing how it's going to be marketed as a Trilogy that casuals and Conor hardcodes alike will eat up.

It's easier to just say what people think sounds cool and fits in with the general opinion that because Conor has something to gain from this than it's bad all around instead of understanding that Dustin doesn't lose much from a financial standpoint win or lose, and that he's putting his Family first.

I mean stupid fucking Dustin, he should just fight Charlie Olives and make pennies so he can call himself a Champion rather than make a SHIT on of money and be a good Dad and provide. Why doesn't he let us manage his Career, we MMA fans sure know what we're doing ourselves

I mean he was a clear front runner for the title shot then takes Conor's bait for an immediate rematch when it was obvious that fight wouldn't be for a belt. He mad little to no mention of fighting for the title.
