why can't you make much money off of kickboxing then in mma or boxing, i mean is kickboxing not that popular i like muay thai and kickboxing. i like mma more, but my muay thai instructor told me that back in the day you could make some money off of kickboxing or muay thai fighting. so whats the reason why you can not make that much money off of kickboxing and muay thai anymore?

Because the networks in Japan that funded K-1 pulled the plug.

There isn't as much money coming in to Kickboxing, so there isn't as much money going out to the fighters.

MMA and boxing have effectively the same ruleset for an observer whereas it is difficult for an average Joe to understand Dutch/K1, Muay Thai (a, b & c class), above waist karate sport style and a few others.

Thai boxing pays great if you are decent and LIVE in Thailand.
K1 rules can pay good too in Holland if you are good.
It lacks a worldwide interest though.

yeah Mayweather said he might even switch to fighting Thai boxing in Thailand as it pays so great.
I think the point he was making was, Sittichai and Saenchai are doing much more money now than they would if they were farmers, construction workers in thailand etc..

and more than 90% of American boxers too. LOL

I suppose also what do you consider good money? If I was fighting 2 x month and getting over 2000 English pounds, I would be happy. Any sponsorship on top makes me a very happy man indeed.

But for that, you need to entertain and be a balls to the wall fighter. Ticket$...

They deserve more money, that's for sure. Doesn't make
Much sense to me

Probably because K-1 is gone and nothing since has managed to really replace it. And I doubt even during K-1's peak any of their stars were paid what their boxing equivalents were paid

Those K-1 stars were n't paid at all in the last 4 years. Something like 2,5 million dollars in total (Sefo, Aerts, Schilt, Overeem, JLB etc never received their price-money)

Even at the peak of K1 you don't get much money if you are not a heavyweight star.

According to both of their interviews, Souwer and Buakaw get like 30k in their prime after they both won the title twice.

They weren't quite at Northcutt money lol

Sittichai and Saenchai not only are at the top of their sport but they have great international recognition and fight a lot around the world in different organisations, they're exceptions. And to be fair even though they are probably among the most paid in the sport, they're still probably getting less than a lot of the current UFC fighters.
The typical Nak Muay who lives and fights in Thailand usually gets paid more than he would if he worked as a farmer or other manual labour indeed, but to say "Thai Boxing pays great" is a bit exaggerated.
