Why can't UFC produce great posters like this

Exactly. I grew up in a time where they all looked like crap,even the pride ones. So what.
I can't blame ppl for wanting a better product when said product is bringing in dough. But yeah, it's the same deal with movie trailers and posters. It's an art form that is often shortchanged and crap these days to save a few bucks.

A movie usually has something to go on to make a decent cover from. Fights are all the same every time tho. Whatever you could do,has been done.

I'm no expert on human proportions, but I have doubts about the sizes of the head, belt and hand in comparison to each other lol. It's not bad, but it's a fairly standard layout for fight posters (UFC uses this a lot for champions).
Yeah good point, I sometimes think UFC posters are quite different though, they seem to use loads of text at the moment, where as I always prefer the cleaner ones like

Rather than these ones littered with text

Well I would disagree there, there isn't a sport as cinematic as one involving face punching. Although obviously you are more limited in what you can put on your poster. The UFC could do a lot better, even if it's just with fonts and small things like that.

yeah, it's funny, I think one of the major drivers in poster design is just how weak UFC cards have become the past few years. You no longer are showcasing 2 or 3 bouts, you're just showcasing your headliner because after that it's regional talent.

Edit: I think the Silva Hall one is the best, but it's still so so. The only reason that color scheme and contrast with the eyes works is because both guys aren't pasty white dudes and the intern designing the poster realized that lol. Also what the fuck happened to Silva's left lovehandle, it's all fucked up.

THey have to put those words on some of these so you can tell it isnt gay porn.
<Lmaoo>

I dunno the "BIGGEST" and "BADDEST" makes me feel a bit
<BirdieOwn>
Though if you did remove that text from the Francis vs Stipe 2 one, it would look pretty homo erotic haha!

Saying "3 title fights" when there are clearly 3 belts on the poster to me feels a bit like why are you making me look at this for longer than i'd like.

Yeah those are things I was thinking as well, I suppose there is some fortune in how well the appearance of the fighter aesthetically fits the design (and vice-versa), our conditioning towards certain looks I suppose can have an influence, like with any other advert with a model.

I did notice that love handle too haha!

It's still my favourite of recent years I can think of though, do you have any examples of posters in general you particularly like?

Pride Butterfly poster.
Sakuraba being choked by a model one
Pride Bushido one that looks like a watercolor
217 isn't bad, even though it's funny to portray GSP as the bad guy
205
194 is good would have been better without shitty reebok shorts.

Tbh I think these recent UFC examples are much better than the supposedly great poster TS posted. Also better than every supposedly great fan poster.

The good Pride ones still reign supreme though, by some margin.

Nice, the Pride ones really were fucking amazing, wonder what the person/people who designed them is doing now

194 is a bit like 262 in it's seperate bottom bit

I think some are better and some are worse, it's all subjective I guess.. Pride ones are supreme though..
Like I hate this one more than any in this thread
