Holy shit, some days, I just need time and space and these little shits won't leave me or my wife alone. I was thinking all these Christmas gifts would keep them occupied for a few months. But here's the catch, they want me to play with them while they play with their toys. I play with them quite a bit but sometimes, I need time to myself and I can never get it. Why can't kids find ways to entertain themselves even for a few hours? People always say I'll "miss this age" but from my experience, you're full of shit.

This is not to dissuade our resident incel posters, especially in the War Room from having kids, but "You" time is not a thing when you are a parent.

And I hate it.

End rant.

I have a friend who had triplets with her first pregnancy. then proceeded to have 2 more children after that. I go over there and I'm exhausted after an hour, cannot imagine having that every day

I will say this, when she gets out, she drinks like a fucking trucker, will put the sherbros to shame with how much she can put back

Just get them an ipad or tablet with Roblox and YouTube on it and they will be entertained for months.

Kids are like dogs. You just gotta tire them out

How old are your kids? How many?

Even my 2.5 year old self entertains sometimes. He can play with his toy motorcycles or trucks for an hour or so before he needs me to toss him around some more. The wife and I also work it out alright to where we each get our alone time while the other takes care of the kids. But my situation is a little different as we have one kid together and then I have another I share custody with his mother, so I only have one full time.

I’m also lucky that my neighborhood I live in is pretty safe and kid friendly though. Maybe get them some friends with parents you trust so you all can switch days with visits to friends.

And then they're addicted to a screen and don't know how to share with their own siblings. I've seen that side with the children of people I know and that in my mind is worse than the kid that wants you to read them a story or play with them.

My oldest is 4. My dad might be right, she's extremely social and is outgoing and that will be all fine and dandy when she gets into school, but good God, I'd like 10 minutes to myself.

I 100% feel you on this bro. I have a 5 and 2 year old and both are super needy. Not just playing, but every damn thing. The only break I get is if I get lucky and both nap or when they fall asleep. Half the time I end up passing out with them. On a good note my 5 year old can do his own things and not bother us at times. They also play with each other more even though half the time they're fighting. I think in 3-4 years it will get better, but at the same time you just have to set boundaries.

Ah I have boys. I’m sure that makes a difference as well. But yeah those years before they’re in school are really pretty busy. Even now with so many schools doing distance learning it’s hell on the parents.

Every kid is different. My son played with his toys by himself for a couple hours at a time, but my daughter is the needy one that always wants you to play with her.

But either way, just tell them you okay with them for an hour and that's it. Then they have to go do something else because Daddy's busy.

It will teach them to value their time with you and also keep them always seeking your attention and approval. Better to give them too little than too much
