Why can't jails/prison in America avoid so much rape?

When the ratio of inmates to guards is bad... I think operating parameters is like 9:1 but that includes dudes in the booth operating the doors and shit. You're a guard on the tier it's probably closer to at least 20:1 at that stage... guards won't be able to catch shit.

Also, while this movie is fictitious from a friend that spent time in prison and a guy I know that works for DOC they both said it gets pretty close to the way the movie portrays it.


People end up congregating based on race, as a means of protection.

Most of the Units I worked on were around 50:1. First shift had around 78 officers watching 2048 inmates and that was the best it got.

Also the number of gay for the stays was high as hell. I got to read inmate to inmate love letters on third shift. Nothing like trying to decipher hood rat ramblings about fucking a dude in the ass and sucking his dick scrawled down with a 3rd grade reading level. That shit was hilarious with how badly it was written. Then you would the inbound mail from their wives/girlfriends.

I don't think if you commit a crime that lands you in jail/prsion you deserve to be raped, but the chances of being ass fucked are disturbingly high if you are locked up.

That was super disturbingly fucked up. Yeah, I agree that putting people in an environment where they can still easily commit crimes against each other isn't really conducive to "rehabilitating" anyone.
