Why can't i type the word ******?

When I type the word ****** into a message area it bleeps it out? WTF?

I am typing the word ****** (s*c*r*i*p*t)

Why would it do that to the word s*c*r*i*p*t and not shit or fuck? what is wrong with that word?

Is it a key word used by the board and so it parses it out from message to not mess things up?

Because people have used it to link/display inappropriate things to the degree where it warranted disabling it.

Wouldn't it be better to disable that word within html tags? <> Rather then in plain text? Just a thought...... Not that it matters cause i know how to type it now.

That would be better, but I think they're just using the built in word sensor. To do what you're saying they'd need to modify the source code of the forum which is much harder.

Not if you are a code geek like me....

but you are right this forum is a canned vBulletin version. They either can't make code changes due to contract or they won't because it is a massive amount of legacy code to go through.
