Why aren't people worried about Overeem's health?

Like we were about Chuck's? I mean, how many KOs and TKOs in his carrer as of today? Fighting in HW too, this man is on the road to serious brain damage.

Yeah I think his brain health has been going downhill lately @dije1

Not sure where you've been, but that's the most common thought in every Overeem thread.

I am.

When Ngannou slept him, it was amazing, but knowing it was Overeem and he’d been carried out more than Chinese food, I was a little uncomfortable, thinking he was dead.

I've seen plenty of folks comment about it.

The guy has lost by devastating KO way too many times. He should consider hanging em up.

I've been calling for Overeem's retirement for the last 5 years, maybe longer. I've been posting about Overeem hanging them up so long its probably been archived.

Chuck was only KO'ed how many times? 6? Overeem has been KO'ed more times than some guys have fights. <{katwhu}>

Overeem and some fighters are naive when it comes to brain damage.

Feeling okay and no facial damage does not equal no long term brain damage down the line.

Now you know the importance of “black lives matter” ts...

Or it could be he doesn’t slur his words n still seems pretty lucid

The fans opinions are one thing, but the UFC should certainly be a bit concerned. Dude has been getting knocked silly for over a decade. I mean shit, Chuck Liddell was one of the guy's who knocked him silly. That's how far back his brain ruptures go.

truth be told, since he is a professional fighter, I don't care about his health. I didn't care about mine during my kickboxing days, nor I do now during my judoka days (one of my fingers is so twisted that it hurts when it is cold.) I am aware of the risks of my hobby (I don't even get money from it.) Do you think pros aren't aware of theirs? There are two options:
a) they don't now the risk, thus, since they were born stupid, ko's won't change that;
b) they are aware of the risks, and they still chose to do it. I respect they choices because they are grown ups, not kids.

Why is this even a debate?

Overeem is still a pretty well spoken and smart guy. Don’t know how long that will last. Doesn’t CTE take time to kick in? Meaning he won’t really feel it for several years before he slurs words, can’t do arithmetic, etc

I worry about most fighters. I don’t want any fighter to have a career ending injury. Or end up with scrambled eggs for brains.

But, I’ve always said...

If a fighter wants to fight. He/she has earned that right. And, it’s not like I have any say in the matter, anyway.

he's a grown man and wants to continue to fight, so I don't care

You're probably right but Chuck started showing signs already so there was more reason to be alarmed. Reem seems to have all of his faculties about him surprisingly.

Almost everyone has commented on it and said he should retire. And Overeem even responded to them the other day by saying not only is he not hanging them up, but that he's already back in the gym.

11 losses by KO/TKO in MMA, 3 in Kickboxing. Damn.
