Why are winning fighters criticized for not Dominating every second of a fight ?

Superbowl final, if a team comes from 20 points behind at three quarter time and wins in the last few seconds of the game it's considered a great win, they are not lambastered for not dominating the first three quarters

Same with the NBA if a team comes from 3-0 in the series to win 4-3, it's considered amazing

Ditto in soccer , ditto in tennis if a player comes from 2 sets down to win

Ditto in a marathon race if a runner comes from way back to overtake late and win

BUT in MMA, if a fighter who wins does not dominate every single second before his/her win, we get ass wipe threads like this

http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/cody-was-winning-before-the-stoppage.3807983/

Who cares whether Cody was winning or losing before, he got sparked and fucking lost !

or when someone wins 50-43 or 30-25 he called a bum for not being able to finish him.

I think you're confusing comebacks with unclear decision wins. In both cases the winner didn't dominate the entire time but there is a big difference.

In MMA if a guy is being beat down and then comes back and FINISHES the fight he will be applauded for his toughness, tenacity, and ability to give exciting matches. On the other hand, if a guy sort of barely wins a match with a decision that could have gone either way, that is usually not applauded.

Surely............. But dick pills are banned, premature finishing is not going to go away easy...........
How about we need more instant replays to capture the money shot finishes?

The camera man needs to get paid too.

How about the director..............he sort of orchestras the circus.......he needs a new chair....

Because these other sports are really just games while fighting is fighting.

You cannot "finish" someone in tennis after being dominated for 2 sets, you cannot "finish" someone in marathon after losing the first half of the race, you cannot "finish" someone in basketball after losing the first half of the game, the entire games have to play out. There's no scenario in soccer where one team dominated for 60 minutes then on the 61st minute got KTFO and lost the match.

An analogy to TJ vs. Cody 2 in these other sports would be if a marathon runner dominated the first half of the race, then suddenly got injured and withdrew from the race. You bet your ass people would complain in that scenario.

Cody was 'winning' (debatable - more like competitive) for a few minutes of a single round of a 5 round fight, it's not as if he was up 4 rounds heading into the 5th and TJ got a flash knock out. It's more like congratulating a football team for scoring the first field goal in the super bowl, then getting blown out
