Why are people satisfied with Conor's path to 3 titles?

It's just not organic. If would be way cooler, respectable and legendary if he defended a few times at fw,then moved up and then fighting a #1 contender or the champ, defending that belt along with the fw belt a few times, and then moving to ww.

I know his fans would really enjoy the end result regardless of how it happens, but the way it's currently mapped out to happen is pretty forced and not an organic way for sports history to be made.

I like watching Conor fight but if he were to go this route I'd be undeniably one of his biggest fans. And most mma fans would follow suit even his biggest detractors would follow suit.

I don't think he will win the ww title personally but these are my thoughts.

He catches plenty of shit for it around here.

All sortsa, "he's ducking so-and-so" threads everywhere.

so you are blaming conor for other fighters bigger than him pulling out of fights? really?

TBH. If a champ has the guts to move up and fight in another weight class, I don't expect him to earn his TS. Why would he? He is champ and taking the full risk.

It's not about him ducking anyone to me, it's just that he's getting fasted tracked to be the first multi division champ ever in a way no other fighter has, it kind of makes it lame to be the first ever of something when you are the only one allowed to do it.

I woke up this morning with a big turd on my living room carpet and I don't even own a pet.

If he keeps winning it won't matter. This isnt tournament sports this the Fight Business which hasn't ever been fair. Big draws get big fights. Fighters are protected, boring fighters shelved (fitch lol), fighters get vastly different pay, etc.

What risk? Conor loses nothing by moving up. Other Champs have had 5he guts too and would have tried to get 2 titles, but they would have had to give up their belts as we both know so let's not act like Conor is the only dude in mma history who would do this

Don't care how he does it really. If he wins all three titles that's amazing. Hell just winning two title would be amazing three would be insane.

That's true. They only made an exception for BJ.

Nah.....its all just for entertainment!

A lot of fighters don't want to take those risks so if you have one that does......great! Get em fighting everyone!

I don't understand what you mean by "mapped out road to three titles". you're getting waaaayyy ahead of yourself. He was supposed to fight RDA, who has essentially cleared out the division, already, at 155. He's far from a shoe in to win that fight. Aldo hadn't been beat in a decade, had beaten everyone of relevance at 145 going all the way back to the WEC. McGregor knocked him out cold in 13 seconds. It was so shocking and anti climactic that it was actually uncomfortable to watch. He isn't moving up to 170. He's fighting a catchweight bout at 170 against a 155 pound fighter against a guy that I think beats him. Slow down, everybody.

I totally get it, it just really sucks in the grand scheme of things compared to how it would look in retrospect if he earned it by continuously winning and proving dominance as a champ

Except it's not a luxury that has been afforded to anyone else with no title defenses. I'll be more ok with it once his D riders start to admit Conor is getting preferential treatment from the UFC. Whether it be the unearned instant title shots or getting to choose his replacement opponent.

People love to forget that BJ challenged GSP for the WW title as the LW champ
