Why are mma fights much longer than street fights?

In a street fight, the 2 guys just rush at each other and it's over within 15 seconds.
In mma , a lot of fights go to decision.
Why?

Are you serious man?????

How bout perhaps......streetfights are comprised of guys who only use hands and are not skilled at all.Neither guy has defensive training so generally one of them is clipped early and dropped.

Mma IS NOT a street fight just like a backyard game of football isn't an NFL championship game.

(Im shocked my reply was so calm)

Because MMA practioners are generally better at fighting then two bums lol. Half the time in a street fight one person is at an extreme disadvantage but just doesn’t know it, the gap in skill is usually not as great in the cage.

Early sanctioned MMA fights normally ended under a few minutes.

They created time limit and then fights began to last longer.

Lol. Ask Kimbo or tank... Or even Bas.

mostly unskilled bums who either dont know how to pace themselves and have an adrenaline dump. if one does pace themselves they murk the other one

Now the bums have weight classes and "fight" not to lose by such exhilarating strategies as fence pressing and lay and pray.

Street fights = one guy gets dropped gets stomped or soccer kicked . Shit defence etc

....this is a thread, really?

1. No alcohol in a sanctioned MMA fight

2. MMA fighters train. Street fight guys don't.

3. It's got to be because of the gloves.

Why do guys run so much faster at the Olympics?

A lack of a rules, poor cardio, little to no defensive knowledge, no cage to keep them enclosed (or to keep others out) and probably the most important, most people get punched in the face and don't fancy another one.

So many reasons....but one is adrenaline. In combat sports you have to learn to, ironically, be calm when you’re fighting. If you don’t maintain composure, your body kicks on its fight or flight system at full steam and gives you a massive adrenaline dump. That adrenaline dump will make you faster, stronger, and take shots better. But it will last you about 1 minute tops and if you haven’t escaped or won the fight, you will gas the fuck out.

So street fighters have about a 1 minute adrenaline high and then they’re done. Combat sports practitioners have learned to override that system to last longer. In fact, beginner boxers can usually increase their endurance by 2-3 rounds just by learning that secret.

because street fights > mma
and street fighters are better athletes

From experience: lack of defense and adrenaline dump. You go HARD in a street fight.... for about 15 seconds. And no one has any sort of defense/head movement so a good jab can take someone out. Not to mention when it goes to the ground it's many times broken up.

And they say white belts shouldn't be able to start threads.

the second part of what you said. It seems like people here and many places only think of the worldstarhiphop or youtube type fights. the vast majority of what i've seen endup with lots of shoving and close quarter punches/poor clinch work. and other people intervening
