Why are millenials/Gen Xers in favour of immigration, no borders?

I see a lot of memes and youtube videos of young people complaining about baby boomers.

    Bitter stuff like:

It's like, look, if the population of the country is smaller, you will have AFFORDABLE HOUSING and BIGGER WAGES ... Constantly having mass immigration into your countries and cities, pushes salaries down and house prices up. It's simple supply and demand.

Baby Boomers didn't have to compete with immigrants that would do their jobs for 10% of the salary. They didn't have to compete on the housing market by trying to buy houses with huge inflated prices due to more people. The more people you have come in from outside, the less resources you have for you. It's simple.

It's beggars belief why young people today, actively encourage mass migration and vote leftist parties. They long for the opporutinities of the baby boomers and yet vote against that ...

Because they realize that America is a land of immigrants and immigration is only a small part of the reason for the changes in America's economy.

It's literally the same phenomenon in the UK and Western Europe .... The UK is not a "land of immigrants", explain that.

A small part? How? Explain how. DEMOGRAPHICS underpin everything and everything is demographics.

They are taught that in school and are disciplined for disagreeing. Their parents tell them that teachers are smart and trustworthy and that if we listen to them, it will make us successful in life. Teachers teach truths like mathematics and then throw in all the neo-marxism along with it, as if it is scientifically certain

Sometime between 1st and 3rd grade I had a teacher who would ask us "why is America so great?" And I had to answer "diversity. Diversity is our strength because we learn from so many cultures" to get the answer "correct"

Technology is a much bigger factor in the changes to the American economy than immigration. If you want to be pissed of at anyone it should be Steve Jobs and Bill Gates not your gardener.

    I disagree.

I'm not pissed, just confused as to why young people support mass immigration. It's completely against their interests. Technology replacing jobs doesn't help, but neither does millions of immigrants.

How are you connecting the weak, pathetic, and stupid to support for immigration?

    Is it circular?

As a gen exer, and an immigrant I'm pro immigration. If done intelligently, it benefits both the state and the newcomers greatly.

As someone with more than 2 functioning brain cells I'm very anti open borders as it's the opposite of a smart immigration policy.

I have a giggle everytime I see those memes. Sure they're cynical but cynical self deprecation has become the theme this day and age. A lot of people came to age to vote after the failed war that plunged us into debt, the housing bubble boom that made people fresh out of high school and college struggle to find adequate housing, a drying up job market outside of the service industry, in crippling student debt for something they were groomed from elementary school to do. Countless young people coming back from a failed war with mental disorders and overall disenfranchised from a lot of society. A growing homeless issue, economic and political instability, you're speaking of the generation of dead dreams and paycheck to paycheck realities.

There's plenty of reasons besides "they're weak" as some bitter ass poster put it earlier.

I can't speak for all GenX'ers but I support the Democratic party of yesteryear, the one that understood that supply and demand of labor is driven by immigration policy both legal and illegal, and trade policy.

See you can blame the Dems some for illegal immigration. At the very least for supporting it with rhetoric, but what about our legal immigration problem, where the job creators, AKA chamber of commerce, AKA RNC, lobby for work visas for fields where their is labor demand, and wages should be rising, but instead flood the market with lets say programmers from India.

Bernie was a classic Democrat. He was on the record for many years saying immigration depresses wages. His tune only changed when forced to toe the party line, to run as a Democrat.

no one is in favor of immigration/open borders.

people are in favor of not being harrassed, intimidated, and retaliated against for having the "wrong opinions." people take the path of least resistance.
