Why are fighters so fragile these days?

It seems every month or so, guys are getting injured and not competing in shows. The big name fighters too, like Weidman,Jones etc....

Guys pulling out all the time now....

A decade ago, guys were fighting at least twice a year and sometimes twice a night...

Where have all the durable guys gone?

Because they take their job more seriously now, and therefore train more, which makes them more injury-prone.

They have insurance now, back in the day if they got hurt in training their healthcare wouldn't cover it and they'd lose their paycheck if they pulled out of the fight. So a lot of guys would just go through with it anyway and just say the injury happened during the fight.

Fighters make more money now too, so they probably have more money saved up in case of an emergency.

Fighters would fight twice or three times a night if that's how they got paid. But the appeal of the sport would drop, as would the caliber of the fighters.

The ufc started covering the cost for health care

Because they can afford health care. Because it's a career now with lots of money at stake. Because there's no longer a reason to just "push through it" and fight injured.

Take your pick of any of the answers already provided.

Less incentive to fight injured.

you're an idiot
Because they banned TRT.
and so are you.

You must have never trained a day in your life TS. Human beings are not designed to punch each other. I myself have broken my hand in three places and am now missing two knuckles from one single poorly thrown punch.

Doing highly physical combat training causes injury. I know, shocking.

They are athletes not fighters like the guys from the good ole days Matt Hughes Chuck Liddell, BJ Penn, Anderson

Also, the medical evaluations of the fighters beforehand have become more advanced and they are not allowed to fight with known injuries.

gotta be Brazilian to suffer an injury and STILL show up to fight, not many countries are as tough as them.

I read this in Napoleon Dynamites voice.

As Rashad Evans stated when asked why he wouldn't step in for UFC 153 to fight Glover, when you get to a certain position, you can fight when you want to. In the case of the champions, it's just easier to not fight hurt if you get hurt.

Don't insult people just because you don't know how to throw a punch. Let me guess, you're missing your pinky and ring finger knuckles?

The UFC has shown it will allow you to keep a belt for over 2 years of inactivity.

Why risk fighting at 95%.

Because they take their job more seriously now, and therefore train more, which makes them more injury-prone.

which makes them miss the fights, which means they are not doing their job.
