Why are all the champs scared of their next opponents?

By all I mean the ones that actually count.

Conor is spooked of fighting Jose Aldo again.
    Alvarez is spooked of Khabib.
    Woodley is spooked of Wonderboy.
Bisping is spooked of the entire middleweight division bar 50 year old Hendo.

These guys are running for the doors. What happened to fighting champs like Chuck Liddell who took on anyone and predicted knockouts in the 1st round. All these fighters these days are trying to bargain for the easiest fights just so they can stay champ. I understand being champ means more money, but I am not a fan.

I don't think a fighter who trains to fight other fighters are spooked of them.

Because its 2016 and some crazy shit been happening

  7. Possibly because of the contagious plague of challengers winning almost all the time, ;;or because money is bigger now and the guys want as many champion headlining paydays as possible

Every situation is different. But since you're not one for nuance you forgot a couple

    Nunes is spooked of Valentina
Cruz spooked of TJ who half the writers say he won

Basically 3/4 these new champs suck. Most were heavy underdogs and beat the odds and want to cash out before odds catch up and they get wrecked.

The question is why isn't the UFC forcing the title holders to fight the #1 contenders? Bisping fighting Hendo is a joke. Why should Hendo get a shot at the title? Weidman has the best record in the division, with one career loss, he should be the #1 contender and he should get that fight. BTW, guys like Weidman don't duck fights. He'll fight the best to prove he is the best.

Wonderboy deserves a shot as well. There is no one left for him to beat.

For the first time big money is becoming a reality and this new generation of fighters are as interested in acting, rapping or having six-packs as they are in combat or virility. Men like Bas, Frye or Chuck live on only in film reels.

    Who's afraid of their opponent's?
    Drop names (plural).
I dislike Conor but I doubt he's "spooked" by Jose. Yes, I think it's dumb for champions to start picking who they should and shouldn't fight. Yes, I believe some fighters fear other fighters. BUT, I don't see that from any current champion right now.

They are looking for biggest opportunity with smallest danger.
I fail to understand how or why people can't grasp this is a business for them.

If you, in your job, had an opportunity to get paid more for less work or paid less for much harder work... which one would you chose???

Hendo and Bisping have a history. It's called putting a man on deck who knocked you out in most humiliating KO of all time in UFC. Is it fair no. But it's way less a duck than others are doing. As to why? Money. UFC skates a fine line between competition and money always.

We're in the era of champions being visibly worse than other fighters in the top 5 or 10 of their division. Other than 135 and 205, possibly 145. That leads to wanting money fights.

145 McGregor ain't coming back unless forced to.
155 Alvarez doesn't want to fight Khabib
170 Woodley is terrified of Wonderboy and Rory
185 Bisping can lose to any of Weidman, Romero, Jacare and Rockhold
265 Stipe loses to Cain and JDS
