A year ago DC was hw champ, yet everyone knew Jones was superior.
So obviously no, the HW champ isn't the "baddest" by default.

I don't totally disagree with you about Jones possibly being the baddest, but even Jones admits that fighting DC at heavyweight would stack the odds more in DC's favor. That means that when DC was champ he very well could be considered the baddest man on the planet
"Baddest" isn't a word. It's more like an attempt at a word by a three-year-old. If you're asking who the worst man on the planet is, it's probably some kind of mass-murdering child molester or something.

Ngannou obviously. Not only he has the aura and instills fear just by his presence, he would also have a solid chance to KO Stipe or anybody else in the world in an MMA fight or no rules street fight.
Stipe was mililmeters from getting KO'd on several occasions in early rounds,it's a hindsight bias now that Stipe dominates him.. Their another fight would be a toss up at least imo. And Francis has surely improved since thenYet Stipe outclassed him completely from bell to bell and showed him 0 fear lol...
Even traded punches with him and walked him down.
