I'll start with an obvious one for most wrestling fans, Chris Benoit Killed his own wife and son over a weekend before hanging himself, a truly awful and reprehensible crime for anyone to commit. But as a wrestler himself? Phenomenal. Had great matches with almost every person he was booked with, including classics with Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, the WM20 Triple Threat match with HBK and Big Nose etc. A lot of wrestlers today, including Daniel Bryan, have admitted to modeling their wrestling styles after Benoit. What he did in his last few days will always overshadow his wrestling career, but that still doesn't mean he didn't have a good wrestling career and left a legacy for others to revisit and study and learn from. I would also say JBL too, who can come across as such an unlikable snarky cunt of a heel in the ring, but It works because's it's probably a good reflection of his real life personality and not a fictional character like most wrestlers are playing.
