Who's more popular, GSP or Conor?

GSP his popularity was based on his skillset.

Connors hype is WWE promo type bullshit aka another Chael Sonnen

Right now or ever?
Because i think the answer'd differ depending on that.

Actually GSP's was based off his looks, his nationality and his image. His skillset was boring as hell. Conor is knocking everyone out in style. Far more appealing. He obviously talks the talk and his nationality also help him.

Dude, GSP's popularity started when he was finishing guys at the early stages of his career like Hughes. Girls liked GSP based on his looks and Canada was behind him.

Connor has Irish support as well. But Connors is all talk like Sonnen, once Connor gets beat up on Saturday people will start to forget him and call him annoying

If McGregor wins against Aldo, he will surpass GSP and almost every other champion in the UFC in terms of popularity. He may even surpass Brock Lesnar.

Conor is making everyone a highlight. It's not fair to say it's all talk like Chael. Conor's striking style is very appealing. The Irish will always back Conor. Obviously Canada is much bigger though.

depends on what context you are talking about. If you just talking about the popularity now in terms of media ..yes Conor is more popular. I think Conor is more popular than any UFC fighter right now in that aspect. If you talking about popularity in terms of skill set and longitivity, GSP takes that.

Maybe we should let Conor actually get past Aldo and become undisputed first then we will talk. I think he will still be pretty popular after Aldo lays a beating on him, but we will see.

Nobody knows who Aldo is.

Maybe Conor introduces all the tmz/mma fans to Aldo on saturday and it takes off from there. Sadly in mma now, a person needs to attend the chael sonnen school of conduct and public speaking to get any where in the sport.

Then were under the belief Conor will make Aldo famous, which in turn will make Conor more popular? He's feeding off himself now.

Maybe, but I don't think beating Aldo is Conor's secret ingredient to being a massive superstar.

I meant that in terms of past popular UFC champs. Anderson, GSP, Brock, Ronda etc. Popularity is a hard thing to measure though. You could go by PPV numbers, but that doesn't necessarily measure popularity. Ronda for Example was very popular both in the MMA world and outside of it due to movies (Expendables, Fast & Furious) and late night. People who didn't know anything about MMA or would never buy an MMA PPV knew who Ronda was. If McGregor wins, he could start to be as popular as Ronda, probably even surpass her popularity.

I don't disagree, if Conor keeps winning he will become more popular.

It's kinda like the questions "who is more popular Justin Bieber or Led Zeppelin?"

Right now probably Conner, but he's a Bieber like personality who will come and go without having a big impact on history whereas GSP will go down as one of the best and most respected of all time.

Boring doesn't mean it isn't good.

GSP's skillset is extremely good if you want to watch it and learn as an example as a martial artist.

Conor's skillset is terrible for learning because a lot of his stuff ins unorthodox and talent-based that can't be taught.

GSP's skillset is only unappealing to those who don't actually do any form of martial arts.

I dont think it is. You said nobody knows Aldo and clearly alot of mainstream people will be watching for Conor. Being that I think Aldo is going to knock out Conor, Aldo should gain some exposure.

I think fame in mma has as much to do with what you say as what you do. For Aldo thats not a good thing. But he could stand to benefit a little.
