I just found out the couple my gf was the maid of honour and I was the best man, are separated. The wedding was 6 months ago.

I am done casual dating if that's what the question meant. I am 33, have been in a stable relationship for over a year now, the girl is moving into a new place with me that is currently renovating. So things are pretty serious. In the event that it doesn't work out, I'd restart my search for Mrs. right. One night stand? I'm too old for that shit.

I met my current GF e-dating. My opinion is that it's the best way to find someone.

Why? Because you get to know what type of person she is before you ever really have to waste any time on her.

On a dating website, you can can sort through tons of women in a short amount of time. Right away, before you even talk to someone, you get all your deal breakers and must-haves, and common interests already out of the way. Then, you can email her and test your humor/compatibility on her, to see if you click socially.

If she passes all of those tests (and the picture test as well), only then do you even have to bother leaving your house and meeting up with her. I find these types of dates less stressful because you already know you're going to have something to talk about. You know(kind of) that it won't be a huge waste of time.

I have met around 6 girls from Match.com. Half of them were busts (still pleasant experiences, but they went nowhere). I got consolation prizes (1 night stand) out of two of them, and a long term relationship out of my last one. The one I'm dating now is the best relationship I've ever had. Oh yea, and one of those 1 night stands turned out to be a pretty good friend.

Joking aside; and while this is not the point of this thread, I believe there is something to e-relationships. A number of years ago I went through a divorce. I was also a member of a few different bulletin boards (much like Sherdog). While I did know any of the members personally I often found companionship on-line. The beauty of on-line relationships is the diversity of people who you will meet and the limited amount of prejudice you will have once you are engage your fellow posters in conversation. Seriously, I have no idea which posters are black, gay, or even the few women on here mostly fly under the radar as such.
