Mostly because it is. Don't feel bad, you're not the first and you won't be the last to fall for the whole grain trap. In reality, the difference between whole wheat flour and white flour is minimal. Sorry.

Dude, they sound good.

Are they the greatest thing to have for breakfast every morning? No.

Do they taste good? Hell yeah.

Is it cheating? Yes

If those are the worst things you cheat on though, I think you're in pretty good shape.

Keep on truckin' with the pancakes.

Doesn't sound so bad to me. If you've got protein in there, that will lower the overall GI as well. Probably not quite as good as oatmeal, but honestly unless you're trying to get down to 5% BF it will make 0 difference.

It's ok, sometimes I buy a loaf of freshly baked whole grain bread from the bakery when I go food shopping. It actually works well for me because I have it in the AM with my shake and it keeps me full until I have to eat again. Plus, its on my mind that I gave into flour early so im extra careful of what im eating later in the day. I still think as long as it falls within your calorie limits for the day you're fine.

It is not exactly a super bad thing. You can make them from pure scratch. All you need is

-1 cup stone ground whole wheat flour (this shit has about 7g of fiber)
-1 cup milk
-1 egg
-1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

mix everything and that is the pancake mix. it should make about 6-8 decent sized pancakes. I mix with organic blueberries and sweeten with real maple syrup. Add a plate of poached/scrambled eggs with 2 cups of coffee and that is an A+++ breakfast. I used to eat this every single morning. If you are trying to get down to 5% BF and not working out much, this will be a big problem. BUt if you are trying to get to 5% BF, you should be working out very much anyways so it wont be a bad problem. I dropped down from 18% BF to 5%. After I hit 5%, I ate breakfast similar to what I posted nearly everyday and after 3 months, I was still right under 7%. Everytime I got BF measured, I had measurements done by skinfold tests and BIA

I'll also have a couple slices of bread with my morning shake.

It's some kind of super-bazillion grain stuff. Makes me feel better about eating it.

And that would be: Dempster's 100% Whole Grains, 12 Grains with Omega-3. I figure if I'm going to eat bread, I'll eat this.

Whether or not its cheating for you is depending on your goals. Whole grains do generally include everything your eating in refined grains plus the bran, germ, and endosperm, which contain much of the fiber and nutrients.

And the antinutrients...

I didnt realize that whole wheat wasnt all that it is cracked up to be by bread companies. i did some reading up and it seems that buckwheat is the best alternative. i dont think buckwheat is even part of the wheat family but im told it makes delicious pancakes so when i finish my whole wheat flower ill switch to that. anyways i usually have them pre or post training and i lift 3x a week and muay thai 4x and am trying to add some quality mass plus a man can only handle so much oatmeal per annum

i use these organic wild blueberries but i am starting to have doubts that they are actually wild or organic as the only berries i see in the wild are tiny and these ones are almost the same size as cultivated blueberries
