Who would you favor in a fight at 205. Yoel or Gus

With LHW seemingly in shambles if DC vacates his belt there, it seems like it should be Gus's weight class for the forseeable future as there is no one at 205 I see stopping him.

Then I realized I would pick Yoel over Gus (if Yoel can avoid old age decline). Who do you have in this fight?

I guess i'm a bit (or a lot) blinded by Romero fandom but I just picture his power being near Rumble level.

Also think he could take down Gus possibly where I'm iffy on Gus's ability. DC, Jones, and Romero all 3 utilize pretty different takedown styles for all being so accomplished.

I see Gus a lot like I see Chael ,an almost was, their best accomplishments are almost beating a goat fighter and seem to come up short in the big ones .... Or maybe like Jesus Price great when it doesnt matter but not around when it does


I would think Yoel would murder him but if I am being honest Yoel also makes me nervous to bet on because hes an older guy and sooner rather than later hes going to be a step slower than normal (frankie) and its not going to end well.

If we were still in the TRT era I would say the guy is about to pull a Randy but sadly little bitches wanted to ruin this sport and deny us wonderful things like that

Yoel, is extremely explosive and has good striking and great tdd...Gus is extremely weak against explosive fighters....so yeah Yoel has a great chance

With the landscape of DC likely done unless he gets Jones 3, Jones gone for a long time, Rumble gone and if he returns appears to be a heavyweight, Bader and Phil Davis gone to Bellator.....

Gus' chin, outside striking and ability to get up would get it done for him, imo, but his defense has been weak, so Yoel could bum rush and catch him. If Yoel doesn't get it done via KO he loses.

That reason being Jon Jones and DC in my opinion and by the time they were gone he had proven himself near the top of 185. I think he either retires or goes up to 205 with another loss to Bobby Knuckles.

DC isn't at all like Yoel. DC walked Gus down and bullied him inside the clinch with a single collar tie.

Yoel isn't constantly pressuring like DC is, he bounces around on the outside and commits in short bursts. I think stylistically this favors gus a lot, given his enormous reach advantage and mobility.
