Who Wins Tony Ferguson vs. Danny Castillo?

UFC 177 is refried shit, but one of the few fights that interests me on the main card is Tony Ferguson vs. Danny Castillo. Both guys are coming off of impressive wins, Ferguson a TKO victory of Katsunori Kikuno and Danny Castillo a KO win over Charlie Brenneman. Neither guy is currently ranked in the top 15 but I do believe this match up gets the winner a big step up in competition.

Tony Ferguson won Ultimate Fighter Season 13 is 5-1 in the UFC, his only loss being a decision to Michael Johnson where he broke his arm in the first round. Since that loss he's bounced back with 2 first round finishes. A Brabo Choke on Mike Rio and a TKO over Katsunori Kikuno.

Danny Castillo is 7-3 in the UFC and trains out of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento with guys like BW champ TJ Dillashaw, Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez. He's racked up some quality wins over Charlie Brennaman (his latest), Tim Means, and Anthony Njokuani. He also went 3 hard rounds with Edson Barboza in a fight where he had Barboza on queer street the majorityof the first round. Many felt that fight should've been a draw.

I think the winner will get a fairly large step up in competition. Definitely upper top 15. The winner of Maynard/Camoes would make sense, Rustam Khabilov would be good, or the winner of Lauzon/Chiesa. What do you guys think? Gifs from both guys last fights:

Yeah, Ferguson has slick boxing. He hits from all angles. I've got him taking the TKO as well.

Fergs is no joke and his fights are usually really fun to watch, his boxing and kick boxing is dope

This fight is definitely the highlight of this whole card, and while I actually really like Danny Castillo, I think Tony Ferguson takes the win. In fact, it's a shame that he hasn't been bumped up to higher-ranked competition before now. Had he not broken his arm against Michael Johnson, who knows how that fight would have gone.

Ferguson seems more well-rounded and has devastating hands, whereas Castillo is also awesome but not quite at the same level yet. So I'm taking Ferguson, and would like to think that he gets a crack at a top-10 opponent by the end of the year. The UFC has brought him along slowly enough - he's ready to step up now.
