It was too close of a fight. On one hand, Santos fought with a busted knee and almost won. On the other, Jones and his camp will probably have an answer to those leg kicks next time. Plus, in a rematch Jones may not feel the need to beat Santos at his strength after this victory and shoot for TDs more often to take the fight where he'd have the advantage.

Who you got in a rematch?

Personally leaning towards Jones, because despite his shitty performance tonight he'd probably wrestlefuck Santos in a rematch. By his own admissions, his pride got the better of him this time and didn't really want to take him down, and nearly paid for it.

Rematches with Jones involved usually end brutally.

Jones would lose unless he brings something that we havent seen yet, or thiagos knee pops out again, which is always a possibility. Jones arguably lost last nights fight, and thiago was fighting with a injured leg. with a healthy leg he would have won, no doubt about it. jones didnt do any damage to him, the other way around santos caught him a couple of times and really did him bad with the legkicks. He will be more mobile, punch harder and be able to really put it on jones legs twice as much if he stays healthy next time.
I think the fight also showed why jones refuses to move up. If ngannou or any of the big hitters in the HW-Division start to kick those legs its over.

Jones for sure, he now knows what Santos can bring and with a bit of wrestling and more right headkicks he'll finish the fight before the end

Jones will finish Santos in the rematch. Santos did great, just like Gus did great the first time around. But if Cormier and Gus rematches are anythong to go by, Jones will learn from his mistakes and make it a completely different fight.

So does Santos need Surgery ? That is a factor too. Dude is 35 his window of competing at this high level is shrinking especially if he has to take a long layoff for that Knee.

healthy legs santos would definitely beat unmotivated jon jones. but thats only if he has sea level cain coaching him

As the large majority think that Santos won and he was robbed

its only fair they should have an immediate rematch. We can't wait for Santos to get old and broken, they should fight asap.

Jones clearly won the fight. I don't even like the guy at all.
People need to learn how to score fucking fights.

First I wanna say I am glad that I saw a thread talking about possible rematch. I wanted to start such myself, but prefer to write here.

You'll think that. But with Jon it's the opposite.
You give him 25 minutes of dissecting you in a real fight - you are a dead man in the rematch. How many more proofs do you want? DC II, Gus II? The guy is genius in rematches. He grabs the things that worked the 1st time and cranks them to the n-th degree to destroy you. I get that Santos is a tricky match-up just because he kicks well, but Jon will find a way to win again and prolly is gonna be way easier.

I think it's a lot more interesting to match Jon with fresh opponents. This is the best way for us to see a competitive fights. And personally I don't like the guy, so I wanna see him lose. Match him up with Rakic or Walker (Reyes too) and the fight with Santos will look like a walk in the park. Real talk.

Fuck Jon Jones. He is a piece of shit.

I agree. But that's not Jones doing it, that's his team. They are doing all the work and the gameplan. Jones in another team would not be top5 fighter. Anyways, better rematch them now, than in 5 years time.

Well round 1 is the question mark.

2 3 4 5 all were very easy and made it 2 to 2.

I don't have a definitive proof about that, but a lot of people talk about Jon reviewing tons of footage himself and taking a big role in gameplanning. But for sure Greg probably does the majority of the work. Whatever it is, he is a deadly man in rematches. That's why I don't want to see Thiago Santos rematching that motherfucka. I don't want to see Jon winning easy fights - no matter if it will be fair to Santos to get his rematch or not. And Santos has to heal his leg first.
They have some killers in the cue for Jon's belt. I tell ya, these are legit new contenders, young, athletic, motivated, well trained... Shit is about to get real.

Just saw the LHW rankings. Reyes is the highest ranked LHW who Jon didn't beat. Jan is up there too, but he might have to get another win before he is in the talks.

But Rakic and Walker are legit threats, don't be fooled by their relative inexperiece. They are the real deal.

Jones. His two closest fights were DC and Gus 1 and in both rematches he made the correct adjustments and finished them. You get one shot at Jones and like thanos said you should've gone for the head.

A lot of fighters think Santos won too
